What about the thousands of people who regularly "help" matings between a bull and cow, stallion and mare, dog and !!!!!? Would you find the fact that they grab the penis of the male animal and help to guide it into the female animal "engaging in sexual activities" with that particular animal? I think not.

Ok, point taken about the word that got bleeped out - I'm not familiar with veterinary terms and shouldn't have assumed that it was rude just because it got censored. Apologies for that. But it was actually the "get close and personal" bit that I found most flippant and off-putting. As I said in my first post, it wasn't the suggestion itself, but how it was expressed that bothered me.

Some people get offended by the use of words like "vagina" etc. Did you really want me to explain in great detail about it on an open forum? If they were interested in it i'd have pm'd them advice regarding it and what it involves. I dont think it waws said particularly flippants - I meant it to come across in a mildly jocular fashion and not all strict and clinical, not in an offhand way at all. People get embarrassed talking about sex and especially when it involves andimals and their pets.

Ok, point taken and I apologise for overreacting - I read the whole thread through in one go and probably let the silliness of the argument get to me.

We just got her a laser pointer which she loves, so that helps as it's an immediate distraction

Anyway, I have seen the cotton bud advice on plenty of websites (and a lot of places are in disagreement over how effective it is) so I know it's legitimate advice. The reason I don't want to follow it isn't over any sense of morality or prudishness, it's just I don't feel confident doing it myself in case I do any damage

I didn't name any names did I? I refered to stupid people in general not a particular person like some do.

It is awful hearing a cat in heat though, my one sounded like a wounded child, and seemed to love screaming in the hallway, pacing back and forth calling for a male.

Course as soon as OH got home, she'd be squating in front of him making brrrp mrrrp noises. Not good!

My one had a tendencey to pee where she shouldn't of when in heat too, so maybe keep your nose out lol

What are your reasons for not spaying her though? My Bengals were neutured at 4 months old. Is she an indoor or outdoor cat?
