I've no idea how you're meant to know at GSCE-taking age what you want to do in the future - I certainly didn't, just chose what I liked and was better at.

She has 4 optional subjects, with 3 reserves in case they cant fit her first choices into the timetable or the course is under-subscribed.

This parenting lark is so tough to get right :o

If it's the optional ones she's struggling with, what are the compulsory ones?

Well on the whole subject thing I did A levels in physics and chemistry (just did two because I was working) and did a degree in drama and philosophy...so you can still change directions even at that late stage :)

I really enjoyed music at gcse, but it was very difficult so I wouldnt recommend it to anyone who wasnt naturally 'gifted' IYKWIM as it can detract away from other subjects ;)

Spud - she seems quite shy (just an impression) would drama be a good option to help bring her out a bit?

  • I didn't do A levels. I went to college to do a BTEC in photography. But have retrained numerous times as an adult and what I did for GCSE or college has absolutely no relevance to what I'm doing now! Especially seeing as I nearly failed maths... yet am training as a debt caseworker!
