Can somebody please kick me hard as i've totally lost my motivation. I'm off to get weighed in a bit and have just scoffed a huge cheese sandwich & bar of chocolate  whats the matter with me !!!!!!!!!!!!
That was the beginning of the end i think ... i remembered how good all the bad stuff tastes and have been eating it since  am so cross with myself feel like i've undone all my hard work

Don't beat yourself up, you had a hiccup is all - put it behind you and use it as a learning experience. I've been there myself, and I'm sure everyone else has, stuffing everything in sight, then wailing "what's the matter with me".
Well, there's nothing the matter with you, you're a human being with human frailties. Only Wonder Woman would go into a sweet shop like you described and come out without buying (mind you £16+ was going some:rotfl: ).

There are going to be occasions similar to this happening all your life - you have to find a way of coping with the situation (sounds preachy, I'm sorry, don't mean it to).
We were talking about coping mechanisms in class last night and everyone copes in a different way, but you do have to find something that works for you.
Perhaps it would be useful for everyone here to post about what helps them cope with problem times - you never know it might work for someone else as well.........what do you think?

Just as a point of interest I have done a bit of research on the Scarsdale diet:

The Scarsdale Diet has been around for some time. Developed by Dr. Herman Tarnower, this diet promises an unreasonable one-pound-per-day weight loss while you limit your food intake to specified amounts of fruits, vegetables and mostly lean sources of protein. It encourages the use of artificial sweeteners and herbal appetite suppressants to speed up weight loss.
There is no calorie counting, but meals are limited to breakfast, lunch and dinner.
    Snacking is not allowed.

A strict meal plan must be followed exactly which is low in carbohydrates and high in vitamins and minerals. Herbal appetite suppressants are often encouraged.

You can be on this diet from seven to fourteen days.

The rigid eating program must be followed exactly, whereby the plan lasts for 7 - 14 days. Thereafter people then have difficulties finding a eating plan where they won’t put the weight back on.

We seem to be being targeted by people pushing peculiar diets at us lately - do you think we're scaring them with our sensible, mutually supportive methods??
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Cooking! I know it sounds crazy but when I'm most likely to comfort eat I am sitting at home. So I cook something instead. Even if I cook a calorific cake or pudding, it's still taken my mind off the food enough that by the time it's ready I'll just taste it, and won't still have the urge to binge. And I always try to cook in the mindset that I am creating something wholesome for my body, which makes me feel virtuous and gives a sense of achievement, thus wiping the comfort-cravings right out! My freezer's never been so full of pre-made meals! :rotfl:

Life is always full of people trying to push you off your wagon. I think the problem is that these "helpful" people assume that we're
    A) "dieting", as opposed to choosing a healthier lifestyle, and consequently
    B) failing at the aforementioned diets (well, we all know these mad fads don't work!)

I think learning how to deal with people who offer advice is very important when trying to lose weight, because although it's great to share experiences and learn about different approaches to weight loss, everyone has a different idea of what's right and what works. But the important thing is to find what works for YOU the individual, and not get too caught up in what others tell you to do. After all, nobody can lose the weight for us!

Morning All, been away on business this time lovely Oxford and Lincs so not too bad. Well done to all the slimmers of the week in particular Lois that is fab. I am working the next 2 Sundays so will change my WI to a Sun instead of Mon hope that is OK.
Racheal your soup sounds nice don't you find when youhave been away homemade food taste so much nicer and you feel like never eating out again.
Honey sorry to hear about your child problems, hope they get sorted out soon. I think it must be so hard being a child in 2006, they are expected to grow up so soon and hardly get a chance to be children. No wonder they sometimes get scared and confused. Sorry I have no children myself just comparing it to when I was a child in the 70's
Loopyloo I think I need the boot myself, so I can hopefully look forward to a good loss on Sunday.
I am just working too much so I have stopped going to the GYm and hardly have time to play golf. It is juist nice but after a long day in the car I just don;t feel like going out again. Well enough selfpitty at least I can go to the gym tonight. Take care all.

    Hi all,

Honey Hope you're ok - sorry to hear about things being difficult at the moment. Don't be so hard on yourself about wanting to lose more before your birthday. Just remember how much you've already managed to lose - you've done so well in any case!

C31 - one of the things I admire about you and your posts is that you never try to force SW on anybody, nor do you preach about it being the be all and end all of diets for everyone despite the fact that you're an obvious fan of it (me too btw!)! I too have had many people lecture me in other diets and eels, what you said about finding a way to cope with them is all part of a successful 'diet'. I think you and I are quite likeminded on the subject!

I'm so pleased as I lost 3lbs at WI last night after 3 or so weeks maintaining again! Must try harder to keep up the momentum instead of flip flopping between maintaining and then losing.

    Have a cheery day everyone!

Welcome back Delly - my OH would be in the doghouse if he did anything to put my PC out of action. What does F.U.B.A.R.ed mean? I imagine it would end up with lots of !!! when the profanity filter is finished with it! :rotfl:
    LL

Hi everyone, for your information F.U.B.A.R.'ed means F***ed up beyond all recognition.

Thanks for the welcome back. I'm having some difficulty sticking to the plan so haven't even checked in on the thread since I got weighed in last week. Still miffed at MIL - haven't seen her in 3 weeks and DS is really starting to miss her. It's my birthday this friday so I might try and stick to the plan this week as my birthday present to myself.

OMG - just realised the time - GG pick up my niece from nursery.

Well done Alyssa and to all the other losers and slimmers of the week!!
What is an SAS thing - is it a food diary? Hate to think I'm missing out on something :rotfl:

Rachel -sounds lovely, any chance of the recipe??
    Thank you honey 28.

The SAS thing is s/w slimmers against sabatage. it's what they give you to fill out when your struggling to lose the weight. Its a more detailed food diary you fill in everyday for 7 days. I've found it better than the normal s/w food diary so I've copied it and i'm going to use it again this week. Althought last night I went to see The Producers and thought there would be no threat to my diet. But I met my mother in law at the strand just as they were having there sweet and coffee. so I finished up having a piece of New York cheese cake with choc sauce and a cappachino. does anyone no how many syns???
    HOW MUCH ?
  • hi everyone. Well done on everyone for gettig their losses in! V impressed with all our slimmers of the week. I'm weighing in tonight and realyl need to get back into the habit of going on a monday. I went to Nando's last night and i think i was good but i can't find much on the online syns on nando's so i don't know. Tried to pick the skin off the chicken, only had a few chips and finished up with two bowls of fat free strawberry frozen yogurt(well, it was a bottomless bowl it would have been rude not to). I've given my self 15 syns for the whole meal. Consultant are you going to break my heart now?! That yogurt was sooooooo good. . . . .

I was struggling to think what strategies I have for dealing with problem days, and then remembered about Day One - which stems from years of trying to lose weight which usually consisted of following a starvation diet, losing a stone or so, then getting fed up of feeling hungry and deprived and going back to 'eating normally', which resulted in regaining the weight with interest. :o

Since I started following SW I don't feel deprived or hungry, but sometimes, for whatever reason, I just go off the rails and stuff my face for the sheer hell of it! But I don't give up anymore, I put it behind me and start again - hence Day One.

My other strategy is to go clothes shopping - there's nothing that confirms my determination to lose weight more! Clothes shopping used to depress me to the point that I would then find the most calorific cream cake to cheer me up, closely followed by a chocolate bar or three. What changed was the realisation that I can lose weight just by eating the right foods, and I can look at the smaller sizes and tell myself that I will get into them, given time.
We seem to be being targeted by people pushing peculiar diets at us lately - do you think we're scaring them with our sensible, mutually supportive methods??

Yes. And it makes me wonder what they have to gain...?

    Hi guys, it's the Mole!

I've just been reminded by LL that I haven't posted for a while (a long while actually). My apologies, I don't mean to be rude. I've been over on the Tesco Discussion Board since being banned from Tesco (yes, you read correctly) I've had such a headache over it as they won't tell me why but I have been determined to find out.
No I haven't done anything wrong, illegal or fraudulent (before you ask)

I am still at target, fluctuating 1lb ish each week which is good.
I generally have to kick myself when I see the scales go up two weeks at a time but I still go to class which helps. I've been promoted now to weighing other members!!!

I'm sorry for not keeping up with you people (must try harder)
I hope you are all doing well. Maybe (if you wouldn't mind) just a quick post from each of you to keep me updated (I know it's lazy but he-ho)

This thread is also extremely long now. Has anybody thought of Lose Weight 8? It could be time. Shall I ask Pink to do the honours again?

I know, I'm dead cheeky (hence the name) coming on here after a few weeks and taking over!!!! Tell me to go away again if you like!!!

Anyway, that's long enough for now. It's nice to be back
    I haven't got one!
  • Thanks for the boot :p it seems to be doing the trick!
I actually maintained last night & was soooo pleased :D
I've planned all my dinners for the next week so i won't be tempted to eat something i haven't pointed and we're not going anywhere this weekend which should help.
Honey ... sorry to hear about your DS ... i'm sure it will pass, just chill as my DD (10) tells me  no, in all seriousness DD goes through phases when she just seems to need a bit more TLC than normal  OH thinks i'm babying her when i snuggle up on the sofa for an hour but she always seems better having had my undivided attention for a while, and i enjoy being needed too :o
    Have a good week all.
    Lou.

btw ... my strategy from now on is to come on MSE everytime i feel tempted ... should save me money as well as calories :rotfl:
