I think people get carried away in a bidding frenzy - how else can you explain the barmy things they bid for. One of the best I ever saw, was a little girl (supposedly) selling a shiny new penny her mummy had given her, telling her the 'pennies make pounds'..........they certainly did in her case, if I remember correctly, it went for around £200 :eek:I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Well the weekend is almost over and it's not been too bad - yesterday was a perfect SW day and today has been OK apart from half a bag of Maltesers at the cinema. Went to see The Departed - it's very good if a bit violent. Its full of stars - Jack Nicholson, Matt Damon, Leanardo de doodah, Alex Baldwin - a bit long but a good story.
Had another portion of my infamous red lentil soup for tea and am stuffed. Have also worked out menus for the coming week and hopefully can stick to it - no excuses this week, no travelling with work, no customers in the office etc. Will try really hard.
Good luck to everyone this week.

Hi folks
Thank you all for your kind Birthday wishes, I have had a lovely day and a lovely lunch out, the chocolate and orange cheesecake was to die for but alas I couldn't eat it all which was just as well as I hate to think how many millions of calories was in it but I figure you are only 21 once so what the heck :rotfl: In my defence I only had a bowl of cereal for breakfast and nothing since as I am too full up still and we did go for an hour long walk round the resevior afterwards.
The good news was I lost 1.5 pounds yesterday when I stepped on the scales so if I could lose another 1.5 pounds next week that would be me almost at my goal for this holiday which is cool. The next target will be Xmas, but I have decided that I am going to go back to class as I do struggle on my own without the weekly discipline of meeting a consultant face to face.
Anyway off to have a soak in the tub with a glass of wine just to finish the day off. Hope everyone else has a good day
Oh and by the way Margarete - I don't use salt at all and never have done either during cooking or adding afterwards and I am overweight so that kind of knocks that theory into a cocked hat for me!0 -
Hi Rachel - which recipe did you use for your lentil soup? I've got a batch of vegetable soup cooking in my slow cooker at the moment, which I'll be taking to work for lunch several times this week.
Oakdale-minx - I've posted some recipes that you might be interested in for your special dinner. I can specially recommend the berry roulade for pudding - it's a little bit tricky to roll it, but it tastes like it should be far more synful than it actually is! I had friends to dinner and did the cauliflower and horseradish soup, followed by pork chops with mustard topping, and then the roulade. It went down very well...
Yesterday was a complete non starter as far as SW is concerned - it was an early start so I had a light breakfast of muesli and natural yogurt, then had to ignore my rumbling stomach and resist the yummy looking chocolate biscuit cakes that were on offer at the break. Lunch consisted of quiche, samosas, dolmades, salad (with oily dressing), pasta (with mayo) and rice salad, and I had no other options, so I just had small amounts and tried not to think of the syns. Later on a party of us went to a Chinese restaurant, where a set menu had been arranged, none of which was particularly 'healthy'. On the positive side, I was driving, so no alcohol, just water.
Today I've been back on the straight and narrow - you should be able to see my halo shining!
Weigh in tomorrow, and I'll be back tomorrow night to check on everyone's results for the weekly update.
Hope everyone's had a good weekend. Good luck for the coming week.

Hi Moira
You wrote "Oh and by the way Margarete - I don't use salt at all and never have done either during cooking or adding afterwards and I am overweight so that kind of knocks that theory into a cocked hat for me!"
Obesity is caused by salt sensitivity - and salt sensitivity does not necessarily mean that the person sensitive to salt actually eats a lot of it. - I am extremely sensitive to salt and I have never ever used salt in cooking or sprinkled it onto my food. - My website explains this. - See particularly http://www.wildeaboutsteroids.co.uk/obesity_and_the_salt_connection.html or http://www.wildeaboutsteroids.co.uk/vulnerable_groups.html
It is a complicated matter. That is why I cannot explain everything on this forum. That is why I created my website.
HTHLose weight by eating less salt! - Go on! - Try it! - It works!0 -
Post-TaeBo morning weigh-in: 2lbs lost this week - if I keep on track I should definitely drop down into the next stone bracket next week! I have made lentil soup for lunches this week (so filling I don't even have bread with it!) and there's plenty of chicken left for some sort of curry/pasta thing for dinner tonight, so that's a good start.
It's a whole new week and as I am working this weekend there should be no opportunities for Maltesers/pizza/anything less than virtuous!
Hope everyone has a fab week!0
