Monkeylugs: Hope you're ok.It's so hard sometimes isn't it. Scrape some motivation together and have another go. it'll work out eventually!

Lisele: Well done for running. God, i didn't realise that's why you'd been put off. People are just ghastly aren't they? I run through a woody area so the only people who see me are dog walkers and they're all dead friendly and now i'm extra grateful to them! It won't be long before you're alot less than 16 stone! Even if you were skinny the evil men would still jeer as that's just they're evil nature.

    Honey: How were your viewings?

Welcome to Jane. I love making houmous these days. I just blend the chickpeas with whatever i fancy (normally with at least a little very low fat fromage frais to make it creamier) like peppers, or balsamic vinegar or curry powder etc. I also use it to dip my sw chips in. yum.

Delly, I forgot to mention that i love the chilli bake recipe as well. So does the OH actually so hurrah for that (means he voluntarily cooked it for me last night!). Hope you enjoyed BingeWorld!

Eels Another one to try is the Davina McWotsit 3min workout dvd. I really get on with it for some reason. good luck!

Lost 1lb. Could have been worse!! Am already putting much more effort into the diet/exercise so hopefully will lose again next week. Must have another go at a food diary as well.

Have made the rather odd decision to go to both RC classes (for the exercise - it's about the same price as any other aerobics class anyway) and SW classes so that i can get more support with the diet. I'm feeling like i need all the help i can get after a month of weight not really moving.

It obviously has a cost but I keep telling myself that the additional support is worth it - just imagine how big my medical bills could be in life if I remain at an obese weight!

Lisele I'm worried about wedding clothes as well. I'm bumbling my way through wedding arrangements as I've honestly never really considered what I wanted before. We've just about managed rings (just plain bands in white gold and we'll get something with a diamond when we're in the US as we need to not spend too much money now) but I'm stuck with clothes.

We haven't set a date and won't do for a while as OH will be going on a business trip to Las Vegas soon and I'll probably go with him and we'll get married then. Could be october I suppose but no idea how much i'll weigh in october!!

I'd love a corset type thing (or just something to make me look a bit curvy in the right places!) but have no idea where to get one, especially in my size :o. Then I may ask my mum to help me make a nice skirt in which case we may be able to leave final measurements till the last minute.

I also want to keep the whole outfit a surprise from OH (just tell him i'm going to wear one of my usual suits!) which would be fun.

Even a small ceremoney is a mindfield! I may PM you to chat about weddings for larger women if you don't mind so that I don't totally highjack the weight loss thread!!

PS Lordy - sorry for the overload of long posts from me everyone.

RachelMK, Pug, Eels, Lois Lane, Dellybelly, and JennIttels: Thanks! I was so upset last night and I really appreciate your support. I've decided that I have to run again today or it will be harder to go again tomorrow. And the benefits of running are too important to let some w*****s put me off. Feeling better now. Thanks.

JennIttels: You might think about buying your dress in the US (it will be cheaper and not just because of the exchange rate). https://www.davidsbridal.com is meant to be particularly good. a friend of mine got her dress there (and she's not a skinny minny). I have no idea how much dresses can be taken in. I've decided to start shopping in September so I have time to lose a little weight and feel a bit more confident. I am happy to be PMed. I would love to talk about weddings (OH claims that's all I've talked about for weeks!).

    Take care. lisele

Phew, I miss a day and have 3 whole pages to catch up on

Welcome to the newbies (sorry can't recall the names, but I'm sure we'll all get to know each other in no time :D

Monkeylugs please don't give up. Our bodies are complex machines and do things we can't always explain. You may well find that you will have a bigger loss than you expect if you stick within the guidelines for this week (lots of free food and gallons of water).

Lisele, I'm so sorry that you're experiencing these ignorant people when you're trying so hard. Have you considered getting a skipping rope to use in your own back garden. Skipping involves lifting your whole body weight and is an exceptionally good cardiovascular exercise. The main plus of course, is that you don't have to do it in public (unless you want to ;) ).
I hope though, that you are very proud of yourself for sticking with it - it certainly sounds as though you have a supportive partner :T :T

I had my class last night and I have one member who has joined and rejoined 5 times over the last 2 years. Each time she has stopped coming after a couple of weeks and said she couldn't do it. She rejoined 11 weeks ago and has just got her 2 stone award, I'm so proud of her (as she is of herself) and it just goes to prove that failure isn't when you fall down, it's when you stop getting back up. Stick with it, all you self-doubters - the scenic route is slower, but it gets you to your destination just the same as the motorway ;)
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

lisele - In this world there are plenty of people, male and female that like nothing more than to take the michael. Mostly these sad people are in groups, I very very rarely encounter any p**s takers when on their own.

I feel it isnt a woman only gym that you need, its an understanding gym that does not tolerate certain behaviour and by its very nature the people that go to this gym are all in the same boat. I used to use a Gym in MK that was part of a physio clinic, I knew that everyone that goes there are working towards making themselves better, sure I got the occasional 'look' but we were all in the same boat and all working towards the same goal.

I hate huffer puffer's in a gym, these are the people that will huff and puff so everyone can hear them working out, but in reality they are doing very little! :)

I still in the gym, went last night, but cause of work issues I changed and now use a small hotel gym, in the main, very nice, and again no micky takers. The staff at these types of gym will understand your worries and are there to help and assist you all the way to your goal. Some gyms will have special introductory offers that will help matters Im sure.

It isnt nice to have to the micky taken, it still happens to me, but I still presist as I want to become a better person. I weight alot more than most people (no still not saying :p ) so I know how much it hurts.

Keep going lisele, it worth it in the end, and more to the point your worth it :T

Monkeylugs - From me to you, I got really upset as I put on 1lb and maintianed over to course of the last few weeks. I got very upset and 'sulked' (Man thing) I can only suggest to persist and keep trying your best.

As some people have already mentioned, and in my experience, weight loss is not a perfect downward trend (I wish it was!) things that you eat and drink last seem to, for me anyways, appear on the scales a few days or even a week later

I cant add anymoe than the ladies of the group have already written, they are great at advice, I value them :T

Just wanted to add my bit to Lisele too. I think you are great for getting up, going out and running. Its something I would love to do but something holds me back. You are an inspiration to all of us. Dont let that wunch of bankers get you down. At the end of the day they were in the car getting to where they wanted to go, they weren't running - lazy so and so's. If you dont get back out there they will have won - you go girl, if you enjoy running, keep doing it - your OH sounds encouraging - would he go with you for the next few times until you get your confidence back - he could even go on bike  Keep going, we're all proud of you!

    Jane72 Hello and welcome.
Jenitells well done on 1lb off. Keep talking about your wedding on here - I love weddings! The viewings went ok, one had been before but now has own house sold. We still haven't seen anything though which is part of the problem. I've lost interest in it now with all the drama.
Delly 1/2lb on isn't bad if you have had a bad week, you seem ok about it, enjoy your hen night - I think you have it sussed with beng 100% during the week, allowing a bit of a blow out one night a week.

I had a very stretchy, bendy, flexible syns day yesterday. Back on track today though. Am at work at the moment, will try and look back in later. Have a good day gals (and suggs, whose one of us anyway :rotfl: )

    Thansk everyone.

Lois.. I have to go to the docs every 11 weeks... and figured I'll get weighed there otherwise I would start getting obsessed with the scales at home (not that I've got any!!!). I thought 11 weeks would give a bigger more positive picture then weekly.

Seems to be working so far.. even if I was dreaming about going to the Doc 3 weeks before!

Hi Cuddles - last time I saw my doctor I requested a blood test to find out if I had normal thyroid function, because I've struggled with my weight all my life, and I don't think I eat too much. The thyroid test was negative, but a test they did at the same time showed that my cholesterol level is 5.6 (goodness knows why, as I'm following a very low fat diet!), which is higher than the maximum of 5 that is considered to be healthy.

The next time I go to the doctor, she's probably going to mention my cholesterol, and I wonder if she will suggest I follow a diet to reduce cholesterol, and monitor my weight - and will the thought of being weighed at the health centre make any difference to my weight loss...? It seems to be working for you.

Hi, just saw the post about taking in wedding dresses - most dresses can be taken in a bit, but you can't do that much with corsets if they're the proper metal sprung boned all round type, because all of the panels of the corset are about the same size, so taking one in would look odd, and you couldn't really alter all the panels because the front is arranged so that the bones are in the right place to support your breasts. If it's not a 'real' corst, but just corset style, with only a little bit of boning in the front, you wouldn't have this problem. However, 'real' corsets are adjustable, so you could just get one that you could pull in?

Vollers is probably the most famous, and best of all the corset makers, they are expensive, however, but you're paying for the quality of the workmanship. They do 'bridal corsets' too. There's a sizing guide on there, telling you how to measure yourself for it and how it fits - how much you can pull it in, etc. There's free next day delivery for the ones they have in stock, but depending on your size you might need to order one.
