Valli could you not have squeezed in with DD and her friends?
I gave DD the credit card so she even 'paid'...:D it just really brought home the 'joy' of being single.
And I am getting a bit fed up of 'the boss' finding he needs to phone me to update me with stuff...so much so that I 'zoned out' of the conversation...

The sun is shining, it's a bit windy, but I am determined to go for a hike today in the Dales. Anyone local wants to join me, I shall be in Muker by 12.30ish to walk to Keld and back.Penelope_Penguin wrote: »I am, as it goes
I'm usually supportive of changes made on this site, but this one is nuts. Has anyone really ever been offended by a smilie
Please say, as I've been told recently that I over use them, and have offended people (well one person
) in so doing
Poohbear yay about DH going to the tip
Welcome Johnina
Hugs Helen, money worries are never fun. Glad you are getting some money from X-H
Toots, you are doing really well with your list – only 31 things now!
Lemanie your hand sounds really nasty, hope it’s better soon
Ishtar glad your BD is gone, mine is going I think due to me sitting in front on my light box for hours on end
Yorkie, so glad to hear about DD walking up the road, that’s really great! I always get a lump in my throat watching my mum do that (she prefers it if someone is outside our house watching in case she falls over). She looks so dignified and brave
Kayjay hugs to you and your son
Carlsberggal glad to hear about the course and the money
Lady Liberty enjoy your time in Brighton
Hugs Lil_me
Valli it strikes me as rather rude of your DS to just ditch you like that. If someone takes you out to dinner you don’t just say you don’t feel like it and not go. You have to be polite even to your parents!
Today I’ve written a thank you card, packaged up some freebies to send, found all the bits so I can return some bras which aren’t any good, done some tidying, washed up a bit, poured DH a bath, done some shredding and put some bleach down the loo, served up dinner, hung out washing, started packing for weekend away, started knitting a phone case, and had a bath, cut my toenails, removed nail polish from fingernails, and shaved legs.
DH is out at the cinema, and I'm having a lovely relaxing evening on my own. Really enjoyed my bath with my motown CD (never listen to it when DH is here cos he's not a fan) and read a book.
I stripped off to get in the bath and was about to get in when I realised I still had my socks on! I've been wearing socks non stop day and night and have stopped feeling them! LOL
We are away tomorrow and coming back Sunday night so I'm not sure how much I will be online before we go. I'm a bit worried - DH still hasn't finished his tax return or sent off a form that's meant to be there by 2nd Feb. Not sure when he plans to do these things! (insert shrug smiley) oh well. There will be trouble if he doesn't do them. I've [STRIKE]nagged[/STRIKE] reminded him enough times!

DH made me laugh earlier, we were watching Martin's program from last night (we recorded it) and he said: "It's a shame we didn't start doing this money saving thing a couple of years ago" I managed to resist saying: "well I have been trying to get you to do it for a couple of years!" and just praised him for his change of attitude. He's surprised me a few times lately by saying: "no we don't have the money for that" and it's been so nice not to be the one saying that continually! I think it's sinking in at last! Hurrah!
Bless him, he has so many good qualities, and I know I only ever seem to moan about hm on here, but he's a good lad really."Snowflakes are one of nature's most fragile things, but just look what they can do when they stick together."

Hex2, not sure what I missed but have a hug and good on you for doing the food for????? I’m sue FIL would agree????
Ohh, LL are you off to Brighton….enjoy xx
Valli, sorry about the steak loss….maybe think of the fat content/ money?????(would def prefer the steak to the soup though…..
Thifty, you are doing well…..I think I need the sunshine too xx
I am feeling a bit better these last couple of days due to so much going on, that I have not had time to feel sorry for myself plus DD has been a star pupil which, I think helps loads as I am not continually nagging her….she gets up in the morning and instead of saying.. “whinge, whinge, I don’t want to do this that or the other”, She gets up and says” where’s my list…..what time is it?”……lets hope it lasts!!!0 -
Evening all
I'm so glad it's Friday. After going with some very kind friends to buy my new TD (it wouldn't have fitted into our car), I've celebrated with reading a fair few pages of the thread - and still didn't get past this morning.
Now it's bedtime. Will see if I can find some wine and read a few pages until I can't keep awake, which will probably not be long. Might scrounge around for some chocolates, too.
Progress so far:
MACAW:
Drink enough water - oh dear...:o
5-a-week challenge:
find instructions for gas fire so I can make an appointment for engineer to come back
get e-mail for the guy who caused the accident and send him the quote
advertise stuff on freegle/local free ads when my laptop finally starts to talk to the wireless router
finish DH's tax return (I couldn't believe it when he said on Sunday that he didn't know how he was going to pay for it :mad::mad:, so guess who's footed the bill. A friend asked me if I had 'mug' written on my forehead - well, she used a ruder word. I must have! )
sort new TD - currently installed in it's temporary home in the kitchen (until half-term), drying a load of towels. It is quite noisy, but I couldn't have afforded one of which mag's best buys.
Will go and check on the TD. Should be almost finished by now. Bed before midnight. Heaven.
Good night, and hope that everyone has the kind of weekend they're hoping for.

and my mum is not giving my two and my sister's youngest birthday gifts as such - the trip to Budapest is their gift even though it's for my birthday...(cos it's a biggie) and personally I think that's fine...
And the whites are in the machine now - but guess where two of DS's shirts are, and his PE shirt. I am leaving him a note on his bed (I feel crappy so am going up shortly) to tell him that, if he wants them washed they need to be put in the machine by him...
Oh - just going to tell the two mates DD has brought home to 'sleep';) how to get out of the house if they need to...Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

how true I NEED that smiley back because I NEED it when I am talking about my beloved DS
who has let me down BIG STYLE tonight...
Booked a table for 5 at Frankie and Benny's for DD and 4 friends and a table for two for me and DS who, at the last minute announced he 'wasn't hungry' and was going to his friends. Like I am going to sit on my own at a table...
So took DD then change of plan, told them I didn't now need the table for two (fortunately they were packed out and could use it) so I popped home and had tomato soup. Out of a tin. I had planned to have a steak (after Soappie's meal last night;)
Am not however, arguing with DS or reading the riot act - I don't need the hassle. I could have cried...
it just really brought home the 'joy' of being single.
Ahh Valli, really feel for you. :grouphug:
Think that's why I take my mum with me everywhere (sure people think we live together! lol) but worried that she is too reliant on me now.0 -
This weekend is the RSPB Birdwatch in case any of you want to have a reason to spend an hour looking our of the window at the birds:
http://www.rspb.org.uk/birdwatch/
You could polish the window first to get a better view and to make this post count at flying. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0
