Chicken and mushroom pie, flapjacks (from the very old Bero book - so used up a free sample of cereal we were given), ginger biccies and cherry biccies. Will put in fruit to soak for a tea loaf and make something from any l/o pastry.
I've really slipped off the baking bandwagon and definitely need to get back on - some real inspiration here:beer:“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

A lovely Gary Rhodes (I don't usually rate his recipes, but this one is wonderful) simnel cake which we have every Easter. Have to do the marzipan top and bobbles and blowtorch it tomorrow (the best bit I think !)
Mrs Thrify PLEASE can I have your recipe for Dorset apple cake ? I had some in a cafe in London a few years ago and have never forgotten how nice it was - have been searching for 'the' recipe ever since - maybe yours it it ?
KAH 22: Elizabeth David's somewhat old-fashioned but still a wonderful wise book says something like 'bread dough is perfectly safe to be left alone in the house' which I like. You can leave your dough perfectly safely in the fridge - eggs or not (well, obviously not for weeks and weeks, but 24 hours is fine) and I love the idea of it not running amok while I'm out of the house !0
