  • Its that long since I have even had a go at pastry as it is such a disaster.

Have always made it with the bero recipe.

Its fine rubbing it all in then it comes to adding the water and I seem to make it too wet so then i add a bit more flour but then when I roll it it all cracks or shrinks when cooked.

Told you I was rubbish at it lol

Thats why I think a food processor might help as I could stop it as soon as mix comes together.

  • A batch of shortbread, it's for my sister so I just had to check to make sure they passed quality control, a few looked a bit over baked so I ate them too :D:D
Worrying won't stop bad stuff from happening, it just stops you from enjoying the good.
  • Thank you for the advice everyone :D

I've never baked before, but after reading this thread, today I made (healthy ;)) brownies! After covering the kitchen in flour and cocoa powder because I couldn't work the sifter, here's the final product:

So now I'm sitting down with a cuppa and a slice! Ahhh:coffee:

That looks fabulous! :T Did it taste as good?

I have 2 breads proving just now, a small 1/3 spelt, 2/3 white with sunflower seeds and a small focaccia type with pesto for dinner.
I want to make some Swiss gingerbread tomorrow (Magenbrot, "stomach bread"), never tried to make it before so wish me luck, everyone!

Shame, hope that won't put you off baking...bet we all had plenty of disasters - bread without yeast was my best brick :rotfl: and even my mum made a marble cake with half sugar half salt once :rotfl:

The regular "hand-shaped" loaf is in the oven now. I forgot to put any seeds in in time but it will get eaten plain as well, no doubt ;) . I have some pastry ready to make apple strudel and DD2 wants to make more cookies after homework.

A tray of "fudgy cocoa brownies" and a tray of blueberry and white chocolate cake. Christmas presents for co-workers, all parcelled up in Tupperware with some festive ribbon :p
