  • Today, I am putting the icing on the Christmas cake.

Yesterday, I baked 30 mince pies. I have now sent 12 to a family member who is in hospital. = Seasons greetings and to pass on some goodwill :0)

I made some chocolate cookies which are more like rock buns, lol. I hope they soften in the tin!

Made fudge and gingerbread yesterday, today will make some shortbread biscuits for last minute gifts for our neighbors, and more bloomin fudge, as OH took it all to share with his staff :). Very flattering to be told its that good, but he forgets that the ingredients cost money.

In fact I beleive he thinks that all of Christmas just appears, as he ends up being very OS with only my prezzies to buy - hey ho, sure I,m not the only 'Christmas Fairy' making it all happen - well more like Mavis Cruet :)

  • I have made a Spiced Orange and Cranberry Bread.

I love a nice Panetonne at Christmas - but this year decided that I would bake my own Festive Bread instead.

It is a 'simple' enriched loaf....ie there is an egg added, and joghurt (which I make myself) ......then I added some mixed spices with the flour....after the first rise/knock-back(or the initial beep on a Bread Maker!) I added dried cranberries which had been soaked in the juice of an orange and also added the chopped zest of the orange (raisins could easily be used in place of cranberries)

    Delicious!

I have Nigella's chocolate fruit cake in the oven. If it tastes anything like the raw mixture there is a danger it won't make it to tomorrow let alone Xmas.

24 mini chocolate and marshmallow tarts, red onion and goats cheese quiche, and a bakewell tart with cranberry jam. 1 dozen mince pies, DS16 has made rocky road and DS13 has made cranberry cookies. Also iced the cake. Phew!

Shortbread is chilling in the fridge. It's the first time I've made it, so fingers crossed it works out ok.
