Looks lovely, will try the recipe for my mum's birthday next weekend.

A cake with side effects? :D

which side-effects would you anticipate from beetroot and chocolate, if I may ask :D:D:D? Wasn't is supposed to make you strong (or was that spinach :D?) ?

Well it would depend on the ingested dose. If you like cake as much as I do I guess purple diarrhoea might be a problem :o

  • I made the Hairy Bikers Banana and Pineapple cake. I think it needs more pineapple, as it tasted very like the banana loaf I make regularly, but it was very nice anyway.

I made Treacle apple tart from bbc good food. Dh requested it at the weekend. It didn't turn out bad, everyone seemed to like it, but I'm not great at pastry. The pastry was a tad tough.

  • My very first Christmas cake - which is massive. We'll be eating it for about 6 months.

    And cheese scones.

Had a kitchen day today, as well as the roast and a batch of BNS soup I made our Christmas cake - which Hubby has 'nibbled' already:mad:

Also made slow cooker mincemeat for mince pies, which I will make in a couple of weeks.

Did a batch of cupcakes with swirley buttercream icing for Hubby,s 'lads' at work.

Also made 3 bottles of 'Gingerbread syrup' - 2 of which will be given as gifts to non- booze drinking friends for Xmas.

And made 4 great blocks of butter from a 4 pint bottle of double cream which I got for £1.50 - bonus buttermilk too.
Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

    £300/£130
