    Here's the vinegar cake recipe:

The thread is 'Cake without eggs?',second post down.

HI raven83,it's simply a fruit cake which uses vinegar instead of eggs as a raising agent.I thaink that the vinegar and bicarb in the baking powder react together. It's really simple to make and very nice.Great for when you don't have eggs in.:)

I think it's a rather unfortunate name as it makes it sound pretty awful really. All my cakes are vegan and use either vinegar, orange or lemon juice to help with the raising. Personally I'd just call it 'eggless fruit cake', but that's just me :D

Do they taste just as nice using vinegar instead of eggs?

I can see your point, but it's quite comical to see the look on someone's face when I say that it's a vinegar cake.

Yes,and i'm also interested to know if all three equally effective as raising agents?

Would one tbsp of vinegar/orange or lemon juice always equal one egg?

    Thanks.
