Two carrot cakes recipe by Angela Hartnett which she use to serve while at the Connaught.
I've baked two: one to take to a family gathering this Sunday and the other for a friend to take along to an office party.
I'd also like to take to my family gathering the Gordon Ramsay's Apple Tart Fine with Caramel Ice Cream but I'm not to sure what it would look like/taste like served cold.
Anyone ever bake this tart and served it cold. Is it as pretty cold as it is hot or is one of these recipe that needs to be served hot?
Many Thanks
Kevin

A vinegar cake, what's that? Maybe you'd share the recipe
Kevin
It's from a thread from here called 'Cake without eggs?',second post but I can't put up the link. The vinegar replaces the eggs.
225g SR flour
half tsp salt
100g sugar
75g marg (I used butter)
50g currants
50g raisins
25g mixed peel
1 tbsp vinegar
9 tbsp milk (I used 12)
Sift flour, sugar and salt together.Rub in marg/butter then add dried fruit and peel.Mix to a dropping consistency with the vinegar and milk.Turn into a 18 cm cake tin and bake at 180c for about 90 minutes.I turned the oven off after 80 minutes.
It's a really nice fruit cake and so simple to make. You don't taste the vinegar btw!0 -
Made Nigella's marmalade pudding cake last night for the first time - unbelievably easy especially if you have a food processor.
