Over the weekend, I baked my first thing - a Black Forest gateau. Very, very well received, too.

Thanks so much for posting this recipe, bought some cherry liquor on offer in Lidl this week thinking I would use it for Black Forest gateau, this sounds perfect! :T

Busy day in the kitchen today, made chocolate brownies, then three lots of white choc chip muffins - one with raspberries, one with blueberries and another double choc chip, made with cocoa powder. And after all that cooked a full chicken dinner - with muffins for dessert of course!

I haven't baked today, yet, but just wanted to share this genius idea that I came across last night.
I was at a friend's house for dinner, and she had made apple crumble (which is the best apple crumble I have ever eaten!!). Anyhoo, she had lots of the 'crumble' topping left over, so she mixed it with some of the juice that had come out of the apples, enough milk to make it into a dough and made little round flat dumpling type things. She put them in a serving dish and drenched them with a sugar syrup, again containing some apple juice. It was simple, unfussy but tasted absolutely amazing!!!
If anyone can put this idea into a sticky or whatever where it may be useful, please go ahead.
I have about 14 coming for dinner tonight, house is untidy and haven't started cooking yet, my search for 'ways to use up leftover crumble' netted me nowt, and I don't have time to keep searching.
