Nigella's cherry and coconut banana bread. Only I used cranberries instead of cherries, and made them in mini loaf tins so I got six for the price of one

I made 40 rather yummy red velvet cupcakes form the Hummingbird recipe book. I am going to sell them tomorrow at work to start the fudraising for my Moonwalk in June.Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0

I had the oven on for entertaining Mum and MIL for mothers day so I popped in two sugar free banana loaves. I made them using bananas I got at the market on Friday. They had gone slightly over and were £1 for a large bowlful. Yum.MFW Challenge 2019 - £2,420 / £2,420 - 100% :T0

Made these honey and peanut butter breakfast bars from River Cottage, along with some of these tasty drop scones which are basically scotch pancakes. Loving the River Cottage recipes at the moment from Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall.0

Lemon cupcakes for Mum's tea. We took afternoon tea around to hers to celebrate Mothers Day, also took three Irish Coffee cupcakes from a batch of thirty that were made by me yesterday for a neighbour's "special" birthday party.
Brilliant party! had a Last of the Summer Wine theme, so all food was served in Sid's cafe. Cupcakes were very well received not sure the children should have been eating them given the Bailey's content, I bet they all slept well!!!0 -

On St. Patrick' day, 17th March, I decided to take another step into the world of bread baking by making my own sourdough starter. The process seemed simple enough: equal amounts of water and plain flour, stir about every hour for the first 24 hours, remove half of your original and top up with the same amount, and the magic should begin to work sometime after the fifth day but depending on your climate it could take up to ten or twelve days. Well that's what I done except that the magic hasn't worked!! The mixture remains in my kitchen.
About ten days later when there was no sign of anything happening I began another starter, that's two I have running side by side, but again pretty much the same results. I do get small bubbles in both but that's about it and both have a slight sourish smell. There is certainly no sign of the starter doubling in size.
On Friday I decided to add a little sugar to the original mixture, about a quarter of a teaspoon. Now I know that some purists might argue that this is not necessary that nature should do all the work, but I'm not a purist:D all I want is some sourdough
Any suggestions as to what might be wrong and what I might do to get the thing moving. I was thinking of giving the mixture a good tonic by adding a little dried yeast but I wouldn't know how much.
Before anyone suggests it I don't know anyone who has a starter0
