    Hi

Sounds lovely. I'm gonna try that.

Reporting back: it WAS lovely! I saw the idea of putting pumpkin in the cornbread on TV, one of these fancy cooking programmes, so I decided to give it a go. We loved it and it is going to be repeated soon! I made some brown lentil and tomato stew to accompany it and DD with her BF made a lovely red cabbage, avocado and apple salad to go with it all. It was a fantastic dinner!

Edited to add: I am about to go downstairs and bake a quick banana loaf for pudding to go with our soup dinner.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

I made a coffee and walnut cake. I'm waiting for a critique from the recipient. :D
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

Did these baked apples - but used very cheap cooking brandy NOT calvados. Used Cox's apples and added one stick cinnamon - they were completely delicious and that's from someone who HATES baked apples !

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/foodanddrink/recipes/8123894/Cooking-with-Calvados-Baked-Apples-in-Caramel-recipe.html

Will be doing these again and again as they seem quite healthy (aren't really - too much sugar and the cream I had with them won't have helped.) The cinnamon gave a slightly Christmassy feel, and I loved them. We might even have them on Xmas day as we all hate Xmas pud !

I had a bit of a baking day yesterday as we went to Legoland today, made our entire picnic as we have no spare cash (thank you Mr T for our Legoland tickets!)

So yesterday I made soft white bread rolls, palmiers (with a little bit of jam spread on before rolling them up mmmmm), mini quiche lorraines, sausage rolls (found 5 random sausages lurking in a bag in the freezer), some cereal bar type things with raisins, cranberries, linseeds, sunflower seeds and dark chocolate chips and loads of cheese scones.

We had some of the cheese scones for lunch yesterday with some butternut squash soup left over from dinner on Friday night.

I doubled up most of the recipes so I've got plenty of things for DS & DHs packed lunches this week. Definitely feeling very housewifey & proud of myself - has been a long time since I've had the energy or inclination to make quite that much in one day!

Leftover pastry made some jam tarts that were a disaster - never mind!

Attempt at Panettone yesterday (not there yet, but taste is ok).

6 loaves of ciabatta today (mistake on my part in preparing the starter...). So, we have got two plain ones, then one of each: sun-dried tomato, olives, cheese and herbs. There is just me and OH - will take a while to get through these! It as my first try to make ciabatta and use starter, I am pleased with myself!
