yum now that does sound tasty!

Turned out it was double Gloucester, not smoked cheddar, that was languishing in my fridge :D

It was still yummy anyway and there's plenty left for lunch tomorrow.

I've just rolled out the pastry I had left over from the quiche and shamelessly ripped off something I had in Waitrose on Sunday. They were like little mini treacle tarts with pecan nuts on top (Waitrose called them toffee tarts but they were basically treacle tarts). Sorry Waitrose, but if your pastries weren't so yummy I wouldn't have to copy you.

Oh dear, I will be the size of a house soon.

It sounds lovely all the same...i need to learn to make some savoury stuff (cant live on cake apparently...BORING!) :o
To be honest I wouldn't have a clue where to start with quiche but maybe noseing around on shop boxes aint a bad idea to give me some inspiration ;)

  • Ooh can I have the recipe please, I used to make something which sounds very similar but haven't been able to recreate the recipe :)

I have made rocky road and flapjack, and have bread dough proving.

was this post reffering to me for the cheesecake recipe???
if so i'll happily post it for you, although it is very calorific so not for the waist watchers lol:rotfl:

  • Made low-fat tea loaf today, which I haven't made for ages.

Soak 11b mixed fruit in 1/2 pint tea overnight.
Stir in 7 oz brown sugar, 1 egg and 9 oz self-raising flour.

Turn into a loaf tin and cook at 160C fan until done. I think it took about an hour. Then we ate it with cheese, which is really fatty.

made strawberry creams today - like peppermint creams but using strawberry flavouring, decided to cover them in chocolate, and realised should have made them into ball shapes, not cut out rounds! the choc just sat on the top and I used the lot! if they had been round it would have run down and covered most of the strawberry cream! tomorrow I have to go and buy more choc and finish them off! but the pink mice I made with some of the strawberry cream and sprinkled with caster sugar and given glace cherry ears are looking really good!
I also tried a new faggot recipe for supper as the old recipe was getting really expensive (it uses half belly pork and the price on that has gone through the roof! was in Adsa the other day and the belly pork was nearly as dear as the pork chops! the old recipe also takes ages to prepare and cook - I didnt really think that this new recipe would work - but it does, beautifully!!!!!!!!!! I DID have to add more breadcrumbs than the recipe said otherwise it was too wet to make into balls, but the finished result was lovely!
all in all - I am pretty pleased at the result of todays baking! the mistakes can be rectified and I know I will use the recipes again.
