    Hi all,

I'm feeling so down and hopeless about things.

Ended up going on a 2 day bender, and drinking Friday and Saturday :-/

I got my a*se to an AA meeting Saturday lunchtime.

Told them I don't know how they do it.. and I don't.

Im angry, and jealous of the fact that they can stay sober.. and I can't.

    Not healthy.

Need a job, and don't know where to start.

    Night night folks,

    Leigh xx

No-one knows how AA works in their early days. So all you need to do is accept that it works for the people in the meeting, and keep going back and then you'll figure it out. If you go to AA meetings, the people there can help you and then you'll be like them soon enough if you're open, honest, and willing.
If you don't go to a meeting, they won't be able to help.

EVERYONE at their first meetings feels like you do - I felt they had a secret they were not telling me, and thus I was resentful at them for having their lives so sorted.
They felt like you did too remember.

    Good luck

    Wise words as ever GC.
Luihut, moving to live abroad is enormously stressful, and after a year there you are well through the honeymoon phase and into the nitty gritty of really adapting to your new life (I too live abroad although in Europe). Many folk I know here and in the past have ended drinking far too much to cope with the strain.
Interestingly, one thing that helps me is that the local culture is not one of heavy/binge drinking. I rather think the Australian culture is the opposite, no (at least judging by the Aussies I know here - they're worse than the Brits).

Jo, let's try and enjoy the bumps in the road ahead, stay focused and rise to the challenge. We're a big group - there must be safety in numbers!

    HAve a good day folks.
    Trying to keep in budget.

Thanks for the welcome back 40sm :j I failed last night but I sort of knew I would as it was sort of the last day of our holiday...

Today I am feeling much more positive about the future and am determined that I won't drink today...

I would like to put myself up for the challenge and it really will be a challenge this week as I have not had an afd for ages and ages...

Have seen some stuff on here about the book 'Living Sober' thought I might order it as I would truly love to stop using drink as my de-stresser in the evenings....

Glad to be back, still need to do lots of catching up

    xx

    Morning all, again

Bluddy hell am I tired tired-sleeping-smiley-4634.gifI woke up at 4am and finally got back to sleep at around 6.30am then OH woke me up when he was getting ready for work at 8am tired-sleeping-smiley-4638.gif

BUT, I have woken in a tremendous mood happy-smiley-566.gif and am more than ready to kick this 96 hour malarky into touch happy-smiley-541.gif

I have one week left before NJD (new job day afraid-smiley-9553.gif), this time next week I will already be a couple of hours in! And so I have decided to spend this week being positive and setting the frame of mind I will need. With this in mind I will be setting myself small goals throughout the week....and yes they will be small (very small cool-smiley-8950.gif)

    Todays goals are:

Taking kids to local forest for a trek then visit the farm animal-smiley-4911.gif

Quick inventory of foodstuff and make plans for cheap meals this week eat-drink-smiley-542.gif

Get back this afternoon and.......please someone save me....hoover not-tagged-smiley-10001.gif

Then spend the rest of the evening watching soaps and not drinking alcohol eat-drink-smiley-5172.gif

So, a fairly easy day to start off :D

I will also be using as many different smilies that I can possibly find happy-smiley-638.gif

Anyway, won't keep you lot much longer, off to get the kids ready for our forest jaunt!

Just received an email which is very corny but quite apt for my mood today so thought I'd post it....

'An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck.

One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water.

At the end of the long walks from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.

For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water..

Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments.

But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do.

After two years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream.

'I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house.'

The old woman smiled, 'Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side?'

'That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them.'

For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table.

Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house.'

Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding.

You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them.

SO, to all of my cracked pot friends, have a great day and remember to smell the flowers on your side of the path!' nature-smiley-5396.gif

Signing off now, be vigilant person-smiley-1185.gif
