    Hi Maman,

No my office manager doesn't do the clerking, we have an outside lady that does it. Funny thing is that lady is a very good friend of mine as her kids go to the same school as me and we are both on the PTA committe of our kids school! I would ask her to help me with the application but she wouldn't keep her gob shut :rotfl:

I'm trying to keep an open mind about all the stuff they've listed on this job description. I know from doing adverts in the past that they are souped up quite a bit, i.e. on this job description one of the things says...

'Order, monitor and manage office stock and resources within an agreed budget'

In other words, get on to Viking and order a box of pens :rotfl:

Ah, I've got nothing to lose..

You could ask your friend on the PTA what her clerking duties involve. You needn't say why perhaps just suggest that you might be looking for some extra work to supplement your term-time income. As I said, it's mainly clerical support but also maybe a bit of PA stuff like organising their agendas and perhaps some liaison with Local Authority.

Just as the job spec is 'dressed up', remember to do the same with what you write.

I'll take a look at your application if you want (:o) which I'm sure you're working on as we 'speak'.

    Have a good evening everyone.

BHB: just as curiosity. If one wanted to have a smallholding to buy/rent how would one find out what is available as after googling it found numerous sites that seem not being updated anymore. Purely pipedream but would like to know.

Purely for pipedream purposes :- ;)

County councils have small farms and smallholdings to rent,
Smallholder magazine has adverts with to rent and for sale (just seen one on a 10 year lease in Permaculture magazine too)
Also consider the Scottish crofting system (speak to Fay ;))
We just kept looking for a house with land and ended up in a mid terraced cottage with a paddock and barn ! (cost much less than our old 'normal' house and a bit of a come down house wise:eek: ...... in some ways......in some ways much better;))

have to say that most of it is pot luck really and being in the right place at the right time. I guess that there are not many houses like ours (on so many levels :rotfl:.......we've got 5 different style windows for a start:o, god knows where they came from, but the person we bought off used to work in the auction rooms )

    Pipe dreams are good ;):D

    xx

PS. If you get your pipe dream, don't start making homemade wine or beer.... I think that was our downfall ;):o

Not to worry, due to medication BF is on (dodgy kidneys) he is not allowed to drink so he will keep me on straight and narrow. I think I will stick with candles, soap, biscuits and something that can be made from alpaca wool ;) (sssh, BF doesn't know about the alpacas yet :rotfl:)

Off to get my hands on Smallholder magazine... Thank you so much!!

  • Hi All,

Sorry not posted this week, its been a bit hectic. I got back from my hols, then took ill with a bad cold, DD has been in hospital, and today I've won a Fridge/Freezer. Oh well a week in the life of me;)

Anyway just to report 30 AFD for me Honey Bear. Thank you for scoring for us this month, I have loved the Star Wars theme. Fay thank you for volunteering for February, count me in for 28, or is it 29 this year:eek: anyway whichever it is, count me in for it.

I have chosen my charm, for January, and it is a lovely little silver girl to represent my DD.

Good Luck to all of you, in your personal quests, off to enter a few more comps.

No one around tonight? A bit strange for a FAFS!

First weekend of Fri and Sat AF for a while and feeling good without it. Felt a bit tempted early evening then not bothered as I went out for tea and a chat.

May have a glass of wine tomorrow with dinner as it is mum's b'day and this will be the last day for the next 4 weeks as I'd going for the full monty in Feb!

Declaring 18 days including tonight - will see about tomorrow
