Jo - was it you I heard mention Nasi Goreng the other day??? Had some for my lunch and it is YUMMY!! Never heard of it before but glad I've tried it now!:D

    Totally yummy huh!!

I used to buy a kit from Mr T's but now make it myself since they've branched out on their Asian stuff. Just buy a jar of Nasi Goreng paste and some Kecap Manis which is Japanese soy sauce, rice, prawns and chicken and eggs for the omlette strips on top and you're away. You could add peppers too.

Lilith, not sure what to say. It sounds like it's for the best but that doesn't make it any less hard. Look after yourself, sweets

    Morning everyone!!

Wow, lot going on here today/last night so have a few people to mention.

YM - Congratulations! Not self-indulgent at all. I can imagine going BR takes over your life. You must be feeling very relieved. Have a congratulatory :kisses3:

Lilith - So sorry to hear your news but well done on not dipping too much into the wine to help you cope with the decision. At least you know you have made this decision with a clear head. Lots of ((hugs)). I know you say you don't want your friend up for your birthday, but some company will do you good, even if you don't tell her whats going on at home.

    PBT - Well done you!!:j:j

Fay - Please try not to eat any more furniture - I'd hate to think of you in that lovely house with only a box to sit on:rotfl::rotfl:

Shaggy - well done on the AF month!!! Keep it going !:T

Phew...was in danger of coming over all budgie-esque just then. I wonder how our lovely Budgie is? I had her mobile number last year but lost it when I changed phones. Be good to see her back at Easter!

Having a baking morning this morning. Amazing how I get the urge to cook when I'm on a diet!:rotfl:. Going to cook a roast for dinner tonight (low fat obviously!!) and do some Twinks hobnobs to take into work. Piglet loves to help in the kitchen and I think its good to encourage it. I'd hate for him to grow up a useless oaf who can't even boil and egg (like his Daddy....he once boiled an egg for 25 minutes!!:rotfl:)

Still AF here! Yay! And last night I dug out an old cross-stitch kit I bought at a show once...its quite large and intricate but really beautiful and I would love to sow it and have it on my living room wall. So I'm going for it....may take me a few years though :rotfl:) Anyone who's interested going on google images and look at Mirabilia Spring Queen. Can't do linky things cos I'm rubbish!!:rotfl:

Anyway, must away. Got a chicken to get in the oven (chuckie courtesy of my lovely Mummy bless her!!)

    Miss P
    xx

    lilith,

Sorry to hear the news. I hope you see this as a positive and think about opening a new door to a new day. One thing I would add. Is that my wife and I weren't children people. I was, personally, scared to death of the restrictions, the damage they'd do to all of my aims and goals in life. I didn't think I'd be a good parent, had particularly bad role models and didn't want the commitment, change to happen to my life. My life was cracking thank you.

I was like this for years, I travelled, got a second degree, started a business and life was good.

I then decided we'd have a sabbatical and took my wife off for a year in Australia to drive around and chill.

At the age of 39, stood in a bar, cold beer and fag in hand, in Exmouth in Western Australia, my wife came in and said she thought she was pregnant. We gave up smoking on the spot (I actually gave up about 15 times and got quite good at it) and now have 2 (kids) and I must admit, I sometimes wished it had happened earlier. I actually cannot remember not being a parent now, despite it only be 7 years ago. We now have 2 kids and I weep with love when I think of them.

Changes you don't want in life, can turn out very good and change you for the better: they can be good for you. A perceived bad change can be a good change.

Good luck with whatever you do, life is so very good, it's an exciting new dawn and a fresh start. I wish you all the very best.

I have successfully avoided the mini bar and all things free (I now have given away 3 bottles of wine - I think there will be a race on to catch me at the front door). I have been dieting like an idiot, so much so that when I woke up this morning, I avoided Gym thinking I would faint. Straight to a bowl of porridge... I must admit, if I am going to fail anything, it's the diet today; even the mouldy apple on my clients desk is looking good...

Well done YM: I know how much this means, my brother was a BK back in teh day it tooka little longer. Good luck with thsi fresh start.

I am not scared of shaggy, but I have been AF since I was challenged to lay down a pledge. Thanks Shaggy.
Looking for a fresh start without credit.
  • Hi all

I am new on here but have been reading this thread for several months.

I have always been a social drinker but over the last two or three years my drinking has got out of control . I can't pin down exactly why - lots of reasons - and of course drinking too much has made everything worse.

I have tried to cut down / stop loads of times and failed miserably, so recently I went to my local CDAT (Community drug and alcohol team) for help. It's taken ages but I finally started a 5 day home detox programme on Monday.

I have been prescribed a reducing dose of lithium this week. I don't know much about dosages but it doesn't seem very high (today I am on 5mg three times a day - then tomorrow 5mg twice a day). It has certainly helped the physical symptoms but I don't feel feel as calm and relaxed as I hoped I would!

Today will be my 3rd AFD - sounds absolutely pathetic but that's the longest I've gone for a year or two!

I was hoping to join this thread to get inspiration from all of you that are doing so well.

I know many people are just trying to cut down but I know that, at least for the forseeable future, I can't risk having even one drink. I really, really want to succeed in this but I am worried because I have the will power of a flea.

    Thank you for reading.
