Lurks and I have decided you're very very very welcome here

    I am a bit chilli obsessed :)

Haha, why thanks. I, too, have this obsession...

As an aside, the Bhut Jolokia actually tastes really nice, it has a distinct flavour to it. I put one in a tupperware pot, opened it a couple of dasys later and the smell of it actually hurt my nose. I am being genuine as well, the smell!

I'll take some and post photo's this year of some cracking new chillis I am growing
Looking for a fresh start without credit.

I am sure you will Lurkio,

Just make sure they get lots of sun, don't get cold (when growing from seed) and keep them damp, but not wet.

Damop and cold will kill them: absolute. I planted 24 one year, put them on a shelf in the sun, above a radiator then, idiotically, turned the heating off and went away for a long weekend...

Planning on doing them in the greenhouse.....(from seed) - we have an irrigation thingy, but I think we'll need to turn it down for those, it tends to 'bog' things somewhat at present. :o

prepare for many idiot questions over the next few months :) edit : and some from me :rotfl: :rotfl: (sorry fay )

  • Hi guys,

Well, I am new to this forum, as you're aware, so some of the acronyms have done me:

    AFD - Alcohol free day
    MAD - March Alcohol Detox.

    Anymore I should know about?

For the record, I have had 3 AFD's on the trot and hoping to to the MAD for the rest of March. Struggled a bnit last night in the hotel, so stayed upstairs, watched the footie and 'enjoyed' the hotels decaf.

It's interesting to read about peoples belief of alcoholism as a disease. It intrigues me as I haven't ever thought like that.

My caveat is that I am new to this and whilst I recognise I have a drink problem, I am unsure it's not a recoverable position. I'd always imagine any situation I was in, I could get out of.

But having said that, I know, if I were true to myself, if my behaviour was consistently poor under drink, I'd not drink anymore. This journey I am going on, is going to enable me to find this out.

I said it sounded a bit bleak, as it really does: "You are an alcoholic, you will always be an alcoholic and therefore, you canot get rid of the disease". It just sounds bleak. To me.

I canot eat turnips or chillis, one makes me swell up, the other gives me acute pain. I don't so much mind missing the turnips, but I miss chillis so occassionally have one, or 6. Can't hep myself. I also grow heaps of them, I have 70 plants coming through just now. I was rather hoping if I was an alcoholic, I could, occassionally, control myself in order I could have a glass or two of wine now and then. Like my chillis. Or at worst, like giving up smoking. I had a puff of one 6 months ago, in one moment of weakness, and it was horrible.

I don't know, maybe I am being too child like in my thinking: it is early days for me. I don't crave drink, never have, it's just when I get going...

Me too, Me too, Me too.....but do you know what. I daren't go there. I don't want to end up where I was.

I'm just trying to get my head round it, tbh. I can't see why people still have to be labelled, or label themselves, even if they have successfully stopped..... maybe I'm just over-simplifying it :o

Totally agree.....I just dont drink anymore......I have successully stopped and have recovered.
I had the flu and got over it....and I had alcoholism and got over it.

Oh I'm growing chilli's too.....well they are on the window sill hopefully thinking about germinating...not sure what variety, nothing hugely special. If you don't know aboiut it the greenfingered moeny saving board is worth a wander thru!

ETA; just looked at seed packet and it appears to be a variety pack...says 'Various colours, sizes, shapes and levels of heat from mild to fiery...blah blah...(HOT) caribbean blend....spookily...red hot chillis has just come on the radio...twilight zone moment!

    Exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like the greenfingered board - ventured to post a few times - also ran away scared a few times with a much depleted shorter nose when I ventured my own horticultural opinion....................now I just lurk in quiet secretness :)

I like it here better :) (no offence greenfingered folks on that board - was only ONE individual - but enough for me to leave well alone)

    Goodluck with it all!
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
    minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:
    :money:Sleeves up folks.:money:
  • Loving the chilli theme - I am going to grow some too - didn't know I could use the ones at the end of the season to flavour oil - fab idea - thank you.

I too was wondering where BHB is - missing the chicken talk - come back BHB if you are lurking!!

    I x
    Target for MAD - 24:)
