Hey MOD - that's my normal turf too (Well the botanic gardens is where I was brought and raised up - or at least studied for many years!) our (well OH) flat is 10 miles outside Ed over the water............just landed back from Ed on Tues :)

RE chilli's happy to *purchase* some do you ebay them etc?

Don't worry about purchasing them, I just love them so grow them, make oils and dried chillis and give them to friends.

I have to avoid the free bar at the airport lounge tonight. Always a struggle, so I have arranged with the hotel to allow me to use the gym and pool and hit the airport late.
Looking for a fresh start without credit.

I'm hoping to grow Jalapenos and Habaneros this year :) - think those other rascals you mentioned may be a bit beyond my tolerance levels ;)

Jalepenos and Habaneros are quite easy to grow, those and birds eyes chillis. I tend to pick them and use them as I go, then clear the whole plant and dry them at the end of summer and drop them in good quality oil, Vegetable/Olive oil. I did my first Bhut Jolokia oil last year and, well, jesus. I have a friend whom when he makes a chilli, simply uses the oil as the temperature and even then tells me it's too hot. One thing I would say, after years of painful experience, is be careful handling them: even them habeneros can be a handful.

Going to try and make chilli jam and chilli ice cream this year.
