Today's History Lesson
There is an old Hotel/Pub in Marble Arch, London which used to have gallows adjacent. Prisoners were taken to the gallows (after a fair trial of course) to be hung. The horse drawn dray, carting the prisoner was accompanied by an armed guard, who would stop the dray outside the pub and ask the prisoner if he would like ''ONE LAST DRINK''.
If he said YES it was referred to as “ONE FOR THE ROAD”
If he declined, that prisoner was “ON THE WAGON”
So there you go.
 Imagine if you were going to be hanged on an AF day! Doesn't bear thinking about:rotfl:0 -

How are we all doing?
Piggy household still AF!!:j And I just don't fancy a drink at all! Got to be good eh?
On the bad side, the diet seems to have taken a back seat. My head seems so full of things lately that I don't have the energy to concentrate on calorie counting. However, no weight has gone on so will try and maintain that.
My bank account is definately seeing the benefit of me not drinking. I have money in my purse (whereas before I'd be counting up the change to see if I had enough for a cheap bottle of wine) and my budgeting is working much better.
Also, I've made less rash decisions. Guess we've all been there, agreeing to things when we're half cut which, in the cold light of day, aren't great decisions.
Sorry to pop on so infrequently and then ramble when I do but I'm feeling really enlightened lately. As some of you may remember, after a heavy drinking session some months ago which then caused me to be hideous to my husband, I stopped drinking for a couple of months. Hope I'm not putting a curse on myself, but this time feels so much different. Last time I was CONSTANTLY thinking about drink. This time I'm hardly thinking about it at all - it just doesn't play a part in my life at the moment.
See, rambling again!!!:o Sorry!

Good for you Miss P - it's a great attitude.
Keep vigilant - the biggest danger when you're in a good space is complacency. You sound so positive it would be a shame for that feeling to go on the whim of a few drinks.0 -

All is well today. Picked up new eczema cream to try tonight. Feel like I am coming down with a cold (hmmm...)
Not temptation to drink today which is nice and the week days are easier to get through with no thoughts of drinking alcohol
Molls - I cannot believe how quick the last year has gone, I remember your first AF anniversary and the 2nd one is almost here! Well done for coming this far and how bright and chirpy you sound now you are AF. Please hang on you have come a long way my dear.
Well I am weighing up whether to have an AF holiday or not? I keep weighing it up and felt more motivated to do so when I saw the bag of gold coins from Shaggy after reaching 7 AFDs, plus the positive happiness of everyone else who is AF too.

Hello,
I am also going down with cold but despite that did go out for a run. I got my new toy today and of course I had to go and test it. :j
I will join the 72h challenge please, I am behind with my studies and letter writing so can't afford to waste any time for not being clear headed. Shaggy - I can declare 8 please as car is in garage and I have no intentions of getting it out tonight.
Hope everyone is well. Byeee...."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."
