Although I am not going to reach my target this month, I have only had two really bad days, the other days I have drank I have managed to stick to 2-3 units which I feel is a step in the right direction. Not sure how to completely give up the binge drinking though? I have to admit I feel so much better on the days I don't drink, I have much more energy and am less moody so why I still have the urge now and again to go over the top I don't know? I think one of the problems is that my hubby drinks a lot. He would drink a bottle of red every night given the chance. He knows I am trying to cut down (and admits he is worried when I do have a binge because it makes me so ill) but still brings home wine for me to drink and so isn't very supportive. I know I should be stronger and just say no, but I don't always have the willpower:( I'm not blamimg my other half for my drinking but I think it is part of the problem. Just wondered if anyone else feels their drinking habit is partly down to their relationship with partner?

It does make it harder Shelly and I know that a joint giving up/cutting down is easier. I was lucky last year in that OH decided to drink beer (which I don't like) instead of wine for a few months. That really helped me get started on having some AF nights. He's back on the wine now but it doesn't bother me any more.
My OH is really supportive and never offers me a drink except weekends when I'm off the wagon. Of course he thinks it's all down to willpower as he doesn't know about all my virtual friends who are helping me. He says he's very proud of me, just doesn't want to join me:D0 -
Shaggy - are you a day early with your pic?
:rotfl:
:rotfl:I did realise before I'd left home......
.......all changed! What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -

Good post and I know exactly how you feel.
I would go through phases of having a few drinks for a few days, and then having a massive binge. Then I'd feel bad, remorseful and weak willed.
I now know I am alcoholic Binge Drinking
I used to blame my wife, my boss, my friends, etc, but realistically I was pouring it down my neck. I wanted to blame them as it let me off the hook, and gave me a reason to drink and justify it to myself.
I now know that I wasn't weak - I have alcoholism which is an illness, and it manifests itself by me drinking.
It's not like that any more - I am still alcoholic, but a recovering one, not an active one!!:)0 -
