The giving up/cutting down alcohol thread part VI

  • Tis me!

Sorry I've not posted since my personally significant melt-down post a few days ago, but I have had a lot to deal with (yes I know, it's easier with friends, so I'm sorry I've not posted since then!).

Well, to cut a long story short, OH came home and I thrust her the computer print-out I had written about how badly I was doing and how I was struggling every day not to drink and failing!

So, since my last post to you all, my partner has absoutely been AMAZING and so supportive. I have given her all my cash and my debit and credit cards, so I have zero purchase power, plus I have had the car every day and picked her up from work. So I've not had a drink since Tuesday!!!!!! :j :j :j

It's been really hard, but made a bit easier as I've had the choice to get booze taken away from me.

Had a such yearning today, as we went shopping (together of course) and the alcohol aisle was calling to me. It was gut wrenching to walk past it, and being at home tonight, I am desperate for a beer or something, but there's nothing in the house and I am determined not to drink.

I just want to thank everyone so so much, for understanding last week and being so supportive, especially Fay and Jo - I really did feel at rock bottom and I have managed to fight my way back a little bit and I feel there may well be hope for me yet!

    Hugs and love

  • Well done Jo for FAFFing tonight!

I'm FAFFing now with a glass of ginger beer (AF)

Can't find much to watch so a bit of the Star Trek film on Film4 then off the watch the last episode of Virtual Revolution at 8.15 which I cauhgt last week and enjoyed then QIXL after that and then beebs

Last week I realised it was ok to go to bed at the usual time on a Sat night as, afterall, it was just the same as any other night and no more special than they are and it was alright to watch a programme about the internet instead of searching for something 'entertaining'!

All those Fri and Sat nights out when I was younger left the imprint on my brain that you must alter your thinking somehow on a weekend, get hammered and go to bed late and even when I have changed all of this the slightly hammered and stay up feeling never left. Maybe now it has....and I am changing.....daren't say it properly in case it doesn't last...

Hey Sparkles I know what you mean about Fri and Sat nights. They always had to be something special for me. I just had to pop out to give
money to DS1 who is going to the pub and couldn't get money out of the machine. I really fancied going in the pub!!
Well done you - it does sound like you are changing.
  • Hi Caz. Glad to hear you are feeling better and also AF tonight. Your OH
    sounds like a star.

  • Hey chaps well done - Cazz lovely to hear from you - I;m so glad you asked for help and have been able to be honest with your partner

Thanks for all the good wishes - Sparkles I think you've something there - we do it so much don't we - I always feel (inside) if I've failed if I dont try and do something amazing on a Fri/Sat night - we tell ourselves we NEED to indulge ourselves on these nights

I have to say today those glasses of wine have made me feel carp, I know I get paranoid when I've been drinking and cos I've really cut down, I now dont find that feeling normal.

Thats a nice feeling - :) waves to DB as well :)

Aw I feel all warm and glowy with my FAFF family :)

Just watched movie no 1 (V for vendetta) now off to find something else - and have done another 3 squares for my blanket

I saw photos of me today - face is really bloated and I'm still feeling quite chunky - I need to keep remembering all the benefits of AF existance.

    :) VIVA LA FAFF :)

    Hugs for everyone!!

  • Hi All

I've done it :j:j:beer: Been very busy, went to the supermarket, tidied and tidied, emptied DD1's suitcase (I know, she's 18, but she only got back at 00:45 this morning and she's working tonight). So tomorrow I'll feel fab and go to the gym and I won't have a swollen face!!!

    night night
