  • 'As for your friends, about the only people who can be bothered with you these days all have similar drink problems'

This is what came out frrom the alcohol machine..........so so true. I am at the stage where I am re buiding my life and having to deal with this. Loving 'Living Sober' good book so far.

    Two quotes for today...
'If it's not a problem it's not a problem' i.e if drink isn't causing you any issues there is no problem. Unfortunately it was causing me lots...I can see far more problems it was causing now i've stepped away from it.

and....I know I've said this before but

'Recovery is a process not an event'

Can you tell I'm feeling deep and philisophical tonight????!!!!

    All's good.

  • Hey ladies

    Good on the philosophical bit
Good on the tea's about ready

PBT - glad you got and like the book - I've got it out of my bag (I took it with me - read it on the plane - both ways inbetween saying NO to the gin and tonic I would have NORMALLY asked for.

My toenails are now - yellow, green and orange :) No one can possibly drink with toenails like this...................

  • evening everyone :)

I'm up to 6 FAFF days now. Ideally it would have been 8 as I am only meant to have 4 drinking days this month.

I managed to stay out of Waitrose tonight so stopped myself having a mid week drink. My job situation is very stressful and frustrating, although it will be over in 2 1/2 weeks when I go back to my old place. I will be glad to move on and start getting on with my life!

Saturday night will be a drinky night as I will be going out for dinner :) but hopefully I might be able to abstain for the rest of the month.... I will wait and see how it goes.

the support on here is great and I have been able to think about/analyse all my feelings and experiences thanks to everyone else sharing theirs. I don't feel alone or ashamed while I am struggling to resist drinking.

I guess as well as canning the drink I am trying to control my eating and my spending too, so maybe it is a lot for me to cope with. I am getting results although it is taking a lot from me to keep going with it all!
  • Hi everyone. 8 FAFFy days for me now thanks Fay. Just tried the Alcohol Time Machine - blimey it's scary. Thank God I stopped when I did, although I do tend to have a couple when on a weekend away or out somewhere - I think it's just habit more than really wanting a drink though. When I'm at home, I rarely think about having a drink now - how odd after years of drinking every single day. It's amazing to think how you can easily change a habit if you really want to. Thanks to everyone on here - it really helps me to read how other people are doing. Have a lovely evening xx

No AF here tonight. Planned today at work that I would open one of my half bottles of wine tonight and I have.

DH away, bad day at work and lots to do before Friday. I have planned for 4 AFD per week so if I do Wed/Thur and then Sun I'm still on track and did an extra last week.

  • Many thanks for the Time Machine link Fay.

Sadly some folks will not survive for the 15 years.
