    Hi everyone!

Obviously all cases are treat individually and I can't just give you an easy answer.. unfortunately! But I can give you a few tips and a little advice to look after yourselves. Perhaps it'll even be tips you'll already know!

    1. Don't go cold turkey and give up all at once, it won't do your body and good and will make you feel worse. Cut down gradually, glass by glass, then maybe choose something lower in %.
    2. Eat!! Your body desperately needs nutrition and cannot find any in alcohol.
    3. Drink plenty of water to flush out your system, and your liver. Hot water and lemon is really good first thing on a morning.
    4. Liver damage is such a major issue and yet shows little or no symptoms. Really look after your liver by cutting down on your alcohol consumption, taking vitamins (milk thistle is good for the liver), lots and lots of water.

    xx

    Thanks Familygirl :T:T:A

Not AF tonight but not going OTT either

    Hope every else is OK.

  • 3 for me please Fay - I know what you mean about some evenings being so much harder than others. Nightmare. I just keeping going over all the reasons for cutting down - am panicking now about Family Girls post re liver damage - if it has no symptoms how do you know if you have it - also can you make it better again?

FG - put me out of my misery and tell me please!

Please don't panic! Liver disease happens with very worse cases, with people who abuse alcohol at a high level for a long period of time. Liver damage is getting more common, but your liver is the one organ that can heal itself so to speak. All that's needed is a little tlc, like the tips I gave before.

There is nothing wrong with drinking now and then in moderation, just take care of yourselves too.

Did I say that I am writing letters - pah, I have been procrastinating. Now I need to get up early to do them as I know that all those little undone things are causing me ridiculous amount of stress so why can't I just get off my back side and do them?

Been really restless all day - it is like looking forward something to happen but not knowing what. Does this make sense?

Better go to bed after the news so that I can get up early.

Its always great to get an AFD - even if its tough going trying to shut off your head - xx

    Hope you're all OK - :)

  • OK Family girl I have a question for you (If you don't mind)

Last year my lower back hurt after I drank - it was one of the reasons I thought about cutting down

Now even if I have a couple of glasses of something I get a similar kind of pain - is/was that liver type twangs? I don't know if I've done any damage - never been to the doctor to see them about things - too scared because of the kids I suppose. I use to drink about a bottle of wine a night - 60+ units a week I guess.....

Scary when you hear it like that isnt it?

Thank goodness I found you all. xx

  • Hi fayjmck

Your liver has no nerves so would never cause you pain. Perhaps you had a little trouble with the acidity to the wine, or maybe your having a little bother with your kidneys that the wine would upset. I would definately go and see your doctor, even if it is just for peace of mind. Please don't panic about anything. Your intake last year isn't uncommon, just take care of yourself, I would try and cut down as much as you possibly can - just to give your liver a bit of breathing space to get itself back to its best, which should be no time at all xx
  • Hey you're a superstar - thank you for a lovely honest and response. I really should go and visit the docs - like lots of folks on here (some have gone, some haven't, some wouldn't need to) its scary to sit down and talk to someone about it all.

Its scary thinking I drank like that for (small voice here - probably about 12 years........) another good reason to keep those FAFF days going.

On the positive side my liver resting alot these days - although some days are harder than others.

Away for my pamper session now - catch you all when I am beautified and almost girlie again (might be a bit of time!)
