Yes and its the server os used that has the ability to perform the "particular task".

It's entirely correct to refer to a computer carrying out those functions as a "server". What else are you going to call it?

You don't even need a server OS to perform many of the functions of a server. It's pretty easy to turn a computer into a simple file-server for instance. And anyone who uses sharing in iTunes already has a server with no server OS in sight.

I just wanted to know of anywhere else to get a server from other than Dabs.Com and if there was a BEST retailer (no and not PC World)

If YOU did YOUR homework on this (VERY easy these days with Google - unless we need to teach you about that ASWELL) you could find most of this out YOURSELF without too much effort ....

Hi, for more than 75 users you can't use Small Business Server so Windows server 2003 R2 standard edition with 100 Client access licenses will do.
As for hardware I can recommend the HP ProLiant family, excellent quality and after sales and support is A1.
Try Misco or Servers direct for good deals.

Yeh for 75+ users you definatly can't use SBS. If I were you I'd use Windows Server 2008 R2, you really do not want to be using 2003, stock availability and support is limited at best now nevermind in the years to come. If you're looking for some good advice about systems I'd go to the guys at Servers Plus (check google) a call I've picked their brains several times when I've been unsure about a few things.
