From the spec, it looks like you'd want a hosting service. Or are you wanting to buy a server?
  • I'm setting up a network of 90+ computers for academic use.

I've looked for servers but not sure how they work and have got the spec that is required.

  • A server is a PC really, running server OS!
Do you have a redundant PC of similar spec?

You could try Dell. You just spec up what you want. Depends what type of server you want, but that link is the start of the options.
  • We've been learning all about routers, switches and the media used to send the data and they never really went into servers just that they were pc's but bigger beasts.

I played with a server before but it had 4-6 hot swap HD's installed but I have no idea where to get one from. Dabs.Com have some but I can't see one with the spec needed.

I'm pulling what hair I have left out lol...

I don't have to make the system work so I'm not worried about that just trying to source the components of the network.

    Any help is much appreciated.

I have no idea of your techincal ability, but have you considered the Dell solutions?

What are you doing that needs a server that hi-end?

Is it just a file server, what?

    wind-up???

you get a server from the people that make servers
they happen to be the same people that make desktops & laptops (usually)
sometimes they also make printers, networking gear etc etc
