The increased use of exceptionally bright lights is quite a safety hazard (not saying OP is looking for silly brightness), especially on 4x4 things where the headlights are at eye level in a car.

  • What would be good headlights for a 10 year old Micra? I just bought it and it feels like the headlights aren't at all bright enough..it just went through its MOT a month ago. Obviously not the £75 ones but I wouldn't might spending a tenner a bulb if it improves my view of the road.

I've had good experience with the Halfords Extreme Brilliance, a bit pricey at £18 (though they have a permanant 2 for 1 offer) but they last a long time and they do make a difference.

I have them in both the Volvo and the Nissan.

I've been using the Halfords Super Brilliance ones for a long time, in various cars, and I've always found them to be pretty good, except for one batch years ago that failed pretty early. They are a bit pricey, but given that the standard bulbs are around £6-£7, it's not so bad. The only downside is when you have separate high and low bulbs, then the costs rack up.

The aldi ones are good for the price, and bright compared to old bulbs.

Lidl may have some Tesla branded +50% ones for £3.99 a pair. Picked some H7's up a few days ago.

Check the level adjuster is set to 0
  • What, have I got them shining up into space or something? I need to e-bay a manual for this car. I have a few stupid questions like that. I'll check the adjuster in the morning.

It's just one possibility. What the level adjuster is for is when you put heavy things in the boot, the front of the car points up in the sky. To make the headlights a more appropriate level you use the adjusters.
