Good headlight bulbs..

I've heard a lot of reports of the Nightbreakers failing prematurely (you could say they live up to their name)
I've had the Halfords Extreme Brilliance (which cost me £18 for the pair) for a about a year and a half now, surviving both my hamfisted fitting of them to my Volvo and an equally careful moving of them to my second Volvo.0 -
I've used higher power/output bulbs in the past and found the failure rate to be high. These bulbs create more light by using more power but relying on xenon gases in the bulb to cool them. I had one high power bulb go pop once every 3 months, although I do a lot of night driving. Contrast that to standard bulbs which I replace once every year or two.The man without a signature.0

Ditto! and I have had free choice of expensive bulbs as its a company car so not my cash. went back to cheap standard Halfords twin pack as I got fed up of changing hi powered ones every few weeks in the winter.
One point I would add is it depends on the type of headlight/bulb your car uses for the above reasons of heat. My car has small 'projector' style headlights that take H1 bulbs. H1's are tiny and the extra heat has no where to go so they meltdown pretty quick. If your car takes something like the common H4 size the higher power ones last much better.0 -

Not getting rid, just want to be able to see better lol.0 -
Another vote for Philips Extreme's, been in probably 2 years now with no probs.
Who needs Xenons at x hundreds of pounds.0 -
I bought Philips Extremes from an eBay retailer. Look for an established UK seller who isn't selling them for 25% of what everyone else sells them for and counterfeit is unlikely.0

I put some no name cheapo ebay xenon things in our corsa last year and they were much better. Is there anything wrong with them? I've heard they might cause trouble come MOT time...
What should Philips Xtremes cost approx? Are ones at £15 a set on ebay going to be fake?0
