Good luck for your interviews Welshpony and Stockportlass.

After two weeks of very few phone calls from creditors...it's all started up again (with bells on). I spoke to the receiver and she said she has not contacted any of them yet and it can take up to 12 weeks to do so

So, I've been going back through my list of creditors, sending them all a copy of my bankruptcy order (although not all of them want it once I tell them the date, court and my ref).

  • Hi All
Yes 22nd Feb 2010 has passed and I have done it. A new era for me. This is what happen. My appointment was at 11 am. i arrived at the Conty Court at 10.30 am smartly dressed with tie and all. Went to see the clerk who is actually very nice man, courteous and polite. I handed the online forms 3 copies all. He explained to me what going to happen. He is going to check to ensure that everything is filled up. Adter about 15 mins, he told me I have to make either a swear or affirm whichever I prefer. I agreed and next a lady sorry a young girl who is the commissioner of oath. I have to e=read the affirm from a prepared note and then she signs the declaration form. The clerk told me then the cost of the whole things which totalled up to £510 (£150 court fees and £360 OP fees). I paid and he issued the receipt.
he told me now to that he is going to see the judge now and handover the form. That was already about 11:15 am. he returned saying that the judge is rather busy and will have to wait till 12:55. When 12:55 came he told me the judge still isn't ready but will have to wait till 1355. So another wait. When 13:55 came still no sign of seeing the judge and eventually the clerk cam e about 14:15 and told me that the judge has signed the form and there is no need to see the judge. A bonus I guess. I went back to the office and the clerk made a call to the OR nad I spoke to the OR who then make an appoint for telephone interview on the 1st March 12:00 pm. My word everything wnet so fast and I am still in a daze. But what a relief. I finally left the Court at 14.30 with a smile on my face.
Now it is the start of a new life. No debt to think about now. I had my first call from Barclaycard and what a privilege to tell them I am now bankcrupt and gave them the ref number. She was polite though and inform me that no she will stop the phone calls and letters as soon as she receive the copy of the form.
So everyone just take a deep breath and don't be scared and just look forward into the future. I know it is hard but we have to think about others who are worse than us. Have a nice day all. I am now officially in the February 2010 Club.May god bless everyone.

  • Hi everyone,

I posted on here a couple of weeks ago, wanting to join the February 2010 BR club, as my date was the 18th. Unfortunately, on the afternoon of the 17th the court rang me to change my date to the 8th March :(

So thanks for letting me join, but now i have to give my membership back and join the March group! I hope there will be a March group :D

It was abit of a pain as I had got myself ready for it, but I only have just under two weeks to go, I think i can put up with the phone calls till then :)

Im pleased to read that everyone who has been through it in February has come out unscathed and happier.

    Eagles xx

  • Had my interview.....

It was done over the phone, and wasn't as bad as i thought.... was still nervous though, and I definitely didn't remember what I spent on one on my credit cards back in 1998!! It's 12 years ago....

My biggest shock was that they only allow £50 towards housekeeping (toiletries, cleaning, food etc) for a child..... I argueed this as I really don't think that's possible - I think my DS drinks that much worth of Milk in a month!! and I told them that, also did you know that they only allow £2 a month for dry cleaning!!! Even so in fairness they did allow the £10 that I had put on there, and they thought that £34 a month for water was high, but again it was accepted once I said that I would forward the bill to them...

It does go to show that it is possible to negotiate - my top tip to anyone about to do this is get evrything organised before hand, keep calm, and explain anything that they question as best as you can, expecially if it's to justify an expence - and definitely be honest - it's not worth the risk not to be. They wated £270 initially from my excess income, but this was then reduced to £163 - in all honesty I had expected it to be around the £150ish at best (which is a lot better than the £1600 I was paying before BR).

The person doing the interview was however very nice, and polite and the process was a lot smoother than I expected. I just hope now that they will be happy with the payslips etc. when I post them off.

Will be celebrating with a glass of (cheap!!) wine tonight
