I will be on here and posting progress.. Last night we had a "discussion" and I snapped about everything but it was nothing mean't at her. I am just so frustrated with the situation i have put myself in
Ok, you need to stop doing this. My ex did it to me and it's not nice and it drove me away. And yes I do realise it will be hard but it's hard for the person who has just been told about all this and is trying to comprehend lots of things.
Now you have the weekend, what can you do free to make it up to her.
Make some plans, do you have a flask? (don't buy one!) If its nice can you both go for a walk and find somewhere to sit and have a cuppa. (if no flask, just do the walk!!) It gives you time to talk as you walk.
Can you cook the meals using only ingredients in the store cupboard? Check out old style for that.
Anything free going on around you, gallery exhibitions etc?
But really try not to take your frustrations out on her.0 -
Dumpy - I so agree with you - one thing about dealing with debt is the realisation that yes, it is hard, but it doesnt have to be the worst time of your life. I look back and Ive had some amazing times in my life, holidays etc, but it counts for nothing if you are still paying for them years later. I have realised the hard way that the things that give me most pleasure dont cost anything/very little. One of my faves is to take the FLASK (a great investment!) and go down to the beach with my beloved OH and dog and have a walk and then have a seat and a cuppa and share a fish supper or we take sandwiches! Even if its cold it shakes the cobwebs away! I have a lot of blessings in my life despite being a bit skint and I'm grateful for them every day.
you will always be rich enough to be generous.0 -
Dumpy & JintyB - I have to agree with as well. Simple things, such as walks with your partner, are really enjoyable and bring you closer together - more importantly they cost nothing.
I am fairly new to DFW but approach becoming debt free with the right frame of mind and you will find you actually begin to enjoy the challenge.NR [STRIKE]£5542[/STRIKE]£2771 BC [STRIKE]£7987[/STRIKE]£7700 BC [STRIKE]£3000[/STRIKE]£5100 Cat1 Pd Cat2 Pd Ulstr [STRIKE]£3400[/STRIKE]£3070 TSB [STRIKE]£4851[/STRIKE]£4400 MBNA [STRIKE]£7700[/STRIKE]£3887 NWst [STRIKE]£950[/STRIKE] £700 Hfx [STRIKE]£10097[/STRIKE]£10050 Asda [STRIKE]£398[/STRIKE] £315 HFX1 Pd Hfx2 [STRIKE]£3133[/STRIKE] £3000

I know guys it was wrong to snap yesterday, she knows its not aimed at her and i will make sure that its another part of the process and step along the way to debt recovery.

Try not to walk to the shop AJ, if you are in London then there are parks, galleries and museums by the bucketful. Just avoid the in-house shops and cafe's lol.0

Yes I know... like I said we recently moved to our first place and we are still to pop out and walk around the local area and check things out... so I was just saying that we have started to do that..
Looking forward to the weekend... I have to say I owe a lot to my OH. She is angry, upset, annoyed and feels everything about me and my situation that she should do, but she is still with me, and still supportive..
I owe her everything !Jan 2010 stuck in 30,000 of unsecured debt tied with approx 28,000 tied up in Loans!

Well done, AJ - you are making amazing progress!
Give yourself a little bit of time to get used to the new regime and I woud be surprised if you don't start to enjoy saving your money to pay off your debts. I know that I do, even though I probably never thought that I would. Join a few of the challenges round here to make it fun. Perhaps you could join a no spend challenge and a few others? There's alway something to cater to your needs, and if there's not, don't be shy but make your own thread! For example, I have tons of toiletries so I joined the 'No more buying new toiletries etc. until...' challenge so I'm saving money by using the copious amounts I already have, and also freeing up space. It's a win/win situation for me!
Find something that fits in with your life (blokes don't tend to have that particular problem!
).
Also, well done on not taking your GF's CC offer. I know it would make financial sense, but I think it will show your girlfriend that you really are serious about sorting this out, and that you aren't trying to find an easy way out. Well done!
Keep us posted and take a look around some of the other boards for inspiration as to other ways to save pennies. You would be amazed at some of the ingenious ideas people have. Please call me 'Pickle'
