Hi Gibbs
Do you feel rich with a co-op account with money in it? They are all battles we all have to fight but it is so frustrating, good job its on the phone, if I had to do this all face to face I would probably be emailing from one of her Majesty's secure hotels............More than Two Years in
Doing it the Niddy way:j:j:j0 -
HSBC savings account is now down to its bare bones and will be all put into the new account next week, now I know it is open. Wages won't go in until April now. Then I'll transfer over any money left in the ordinary HSBC account. So yes feeling good.:j
No post today, so only the card has come from Co-op so far, but now I know my account number. Cannot decide if I should wait for the real bumph to arrive, or just fill in, print off and send the authorisation that is on their website to get the Rent, Council Tax, Gas, Electric etc DDs transferred. What they will send probably won't be any different from what is online. Doing it now will save a day or two.
Still a novelty using real money, instead of whipping out the plastic. I'm sure I'll get over it.:DPaddle No 21 :wave:0 -
Using co-op card and knowing there will be no -sorry your card has been declined-, because you know exactly how much you've got in REAL money!

Hi all
Finally had a minute to introduce myself. Has been tricky with a 3 yr old and 5 month old but former out swimming with dad and latter snoozing for the moment so here goes...
I live in Cornwall too (hello True and Isis!). I'm 30 and married with 2 children mentioned above. Have been treading water finacially for past few years but LBM came when I realised I would have to go back to work soon just to maintain our debt. I really want to be around for my little boy as I missed so much of my daughter when I returned to work after she was born.
So, I contact CCCS and have started a DMP with them this month. We have around £30k debt with 13 creditors and are so close to BR because our income is low. We really don't want to go down that route because, although our house is in neg equity, we rent it out so would not be able to keep it after a BR. We worked so hard to get there and don't want it to have been for nothing.
All of our creditors apart from MBNA have accepted the DMP, which is a huge relief. But our DFD at the mo is 15 yeats away!
Anyway, the plan is to save as much extra as we can above our bills and DMP payments and offer full and final settlements in a few years time.
I am also studying for a degree with the OU (started doing psychology but changing to counselling). I love it and would reccommend it to anyone. Esp as it's free if you are on a low income! :j I will be finished by the time youngest is at school and can then start earning a propper wage again and get out of this hole.
True - well done on the job :j Will be popping round for fish and chips rather than tea methinks!
Really great to "meet" you all and share experiences.

Hi debtfreeforme sounds like we got lot of stuff in common! Ive got two kids as well, DD whos 2 half and and DS whos 9 months. In the midst of potty training at the mo (lots of fun) and defo understand the missing out whilst working. Im a stay at home mum now which is hard but so much nicer to be around the kids. Oh and Ive done both psychology and a bit of counselling!! Congrats on the acceptances, funny isnt MBNA have accepted ours, but Egg, M&S and BofS havent. Totally randomn me thinks
Um when will you be round with those chips true Im starving!!
Bit of a bummer today, only got £8 left for the rest of the months food shopping. Guess the savings are gonna have to come in handy. So annoyed with myself, but I cant see where we've spent too much. But at least I dont have to borrow to make it till end of the month. And DH has just got another cubby job designing a friends website, so £100 coming our way COOL!!Debt at LBM - £11,505Debt 2011 = [STRIKE]8K[/STRIKE] £7760 - DF in July 2013DMP Paddle no. 1 Sealed Pot No. 1375Grocery Challenge Aug £418.31/£450 Sept £ /£4500 -

Ah, potty training. DD is still struggling with that one and she's going to be 4 in May! Good luck with it - sounds like your little one is doing really well.
Did you do your Psych and counselling stuff with the OU? Was planning to do the Psych Bsc and go into clinical but my best friend, who's in the last year of her Phd has totally put me off. Have decided that studying counselling will still allow me to help people without having to abandon my family for 3 years!
I agree that DMP decisions are totally random - was dreading Natwest as we owe them about £20k between ODs, loans and CCs but they've been fine!0 -

Hi guys, yep this is the way to go I think. 30-50% for F & Fs, is this right?LBM Jan 2010. DFD 2016.
Paddle No. 5.
Debt at DMP start (May 1st '10) £54.9k, as of 1st Oct '11 £33.2k. 40% cleared.
(3 F & Fs down, 5 to go!) :T0 -
PPP cant help with that one, not quite ready to think about F&Fs just yet. But that figure sounds quite good if its true.
Debtfree no I went to uni (ten years ago now) and did the Bsc, I did plan to follow with a masters in forensic psych but it meant moving down south, which I didnt want to do (future hubby to be was in the same city) Typical now as you can do it at Durham just 30mins away! In the end I did pharmacy and then admin stuff, and now mummy stuff. Maybe one day Ill get back to an adult life! Would love my own shop but doubt we'll ever get the money now
