pure_dead_dopey wrote: »HI Losing, I think you should take a deep breath and phone back CCCS to see what they suggest. I am sure there must be a answer to your problem. I do think it must involve your OH as I can't see how you are going to keep this a secret and is some of the debt not his anyway? I deal with all our finances (not very well obviously) but my OH appreciates that he ran up a pile of the debt too (he was a bit like Prince Philip just asked someone to get him things). Please phone CCCS and see what they suggest, they won't leave you with no remedy although the remedy might not be what you want to hear. Make sure you give details of OH's salary as well cos you have to take this into consideration in total. If you say he gives you half of the bills, what does he do with the rest of his money? Could this not help you both out? Keep posting
Hi - thanks. Well no, this debt is ALL mine - we have separate bank accounts and he has his credit cards etc and I have mine. None of the debt is his at all which is why I cant tell him because of my stupid actions this will impact on him and our son if we end up losing the house. He gives me half of everything and the rest of his money goes on his phone, credit cards and his own personal buying like clothes, toiletries etc. He is also in debt and has no spare money to give me, he has about £7000 of debt I think but manages it - just. He has nothing left at the end of the month and neither do I, the debt relief thing worked out that my total income incluing what he gives me plus child benefit is £1697 - the total I have to pay out is something like £2700. I have a telephone appointment booked with CCS on Mon 22nd Feb, which is over a week away. SHould I just wait for this before sending off any token payment letters? I am at a loss as to what to do, I am reaching the end of my tether and I can see no light at the end of this tunnel at all. thanks so much for your help, I dont know how i would have even rung up CCCS without seeing what you guys out on here x0 -
Hi Losing Sorry thought that you shared mortgage and stuff. I think you need to give CCCS a ring to-day and ask what they advise about tokens etc. It is quite a long time to just hang until 22nd, but well done for booking that date. I don't want to think of you going through the weekend with no comfort. You are around £1000 short each month, does that include paying all of your CCs and loans at minimum payment level? It might be a good idea if yu did an SOA (link at the top) because sometimes the good people on this site can come up with moneysaving tips that you don't immediately see yourself. I still think you have to tell the OH, you say he is buying clothes and stuff with his left over money and really as a family unit, you can't afford that if you are making yourself ill with debt worries. I'm trying not be harsh but I really don't see any other option and horrible thought he would find ut if they repossessed the house wouldn't he? which you are a long way from it being the situation. but the sooner you get it sorted the better. there will be a answer, we just all have to think hard to find it.More than Two Years in

Hi everyone!
Have actually been cleaning today - OH has the day off and DB is off school so I've had to make an effort, but OH has gone for an interview (sending MASSIVE positive vibes in that direction :smileyhea) and granny has taken DB out to "let me get on" so here I am!
Losing - please, please find a way to tell hubby, you need him on board and if he is "just" managing with his debts, he may be really up for some help. Also agree with PDD about doing an SOA and posting it up on here - these guys helped me save a small fortune which I needed because we weren't in a position to do a DMP either. We're always here too so please keep posting

Help please!
I've just spent the last 45 minutes searching on here for a template letter along the lines of....'I'm with the CCCS who have informed you of my DMP, as this doesn't start until March, please find enclosed token payment of £X'...etc. etc.
Does anyone have something along those lines they could cut and paste in? Or point me in the right direction? It's driving me nuts!
Thanks in advance - hope you all have a lovely Friday eveningx

HI Vic
The official one is in your pack from CCCS and you photocopy all the necessary copies. I know this because I did what you are doing and couldn't find it, finally found a crumpled photocopy in the original envelope. Haven't got the facilities here to scan or you could have this one!More than Two Years in

Sorry Vic, can't help with a template for that, but I think you've pretty much nailed it! If you're stuck give CCCS a bell and ask them what you should write xxPaddle #8 DFW Nerd #12840

thanks Ted, I just feel that this lot Lloyds have some sort of duty to be reasonable, we bailed them out and they are just being absolute a''''@ to perfectly good people trying to sort it all out. Some of the stories on here are horrendous!!!More than Two Years in

Cheers guys, really looking forward to potty training now
Losing Having re-read your post a few times, I think a DMP is prob not the best option at present, although Im not expert. You need to speak to citizens advice, national debt line or one of the other general debt advice agencies straight away. You cant do a DMP if you have less than £100 left after paying your priority debts, am I right in saying you dont have more even for the priority payments? Just reading your post has made me worry for you. There are hardship loans available (I think) for priority debts. But CAB will be able to tell you more. I hate to say it, but if you cant afford to make those priority payments YOU ARE GONNA HAVE TO TELL YOUR OH. For better or worse, you cannot do this without him knowing.
As far as credit cards, loans etc go I would ring them or write. Tell them you are facing severe financial difficulties and are seeking advice and will you accept a token payment of £1. Remember THESE ARE NOT IMPORTANT DEBTS AND SHOULD NOT BE TREATED ABOVE YOUR PRIORITY DEBTS (unless they are secured on your property) Even the Tesco one, just send the letter or ring and send a small token payment. Treat them all the same.
Is your overdraft agreed, or are you over your limit and facing charges?
Does what you have to pay (£2700) include current payments to creditors?
If you've got time, post your SOA on here and we'll try and help you a bit more. Take care, sending you a big DFW hug.Debt at LBM - £11,505Debt 2011 = [STRIKE]8K[/STRIKE] £7760 - DF in July 2013DMP Paddle no. 1 Sealed Pot No. 1375Grocery Challenge Aug £418.31/£450 Sept £ /£4500
