£8?...Blimey. I was foolishly with a independent optician for years but when I looked into Specsavers it was only a couple of quid cheaper...I think it was the brand I was using (Johnson & Johnson) but they wouldn't let me change...Grrrrr

Ah right - mine are the cheapiest of cheapy own brand ones! And the £15 ones were SS own brand as well. I always make it really clear when I'm in there that I'm not willing to pay for anything extra, just want the cheapest thing they have that will bring the world into focus! Think they despair of me…

Thanks for the info re CAB True, sorry to go on about it...it's my version of the A shop, needing to know what to expect..hoping to get some confidence back once the job situation is settled and I have some head space to think things through....

Only 11 more A shop and W free days to go and I can get back to blah de blah, trolleys, Ws etc.... There was an A shop advert on TV last night, I was beside myself with excitement....:D

No worries mate! I should have even more info on Friday after I've been to the course, so ask away!

:rotfl: I can't watch the adverts without thinking of you and cracking up lol

 ARGH! Just had garage on the phone and it sounds like I'm going to be carless for a while!! Apparently they need to replace the main computer which involves taking my whole car to pieces  poor baby car! Thank god for warranties because that just screams expensive!

I did try that, but the staff weren't the sharpest tools in the box so I gave up!

Morning! actually it's afternoon now (where did this morning go?)

OK I got my bum & OH too down to the CAB first thing this morning as instructed!

TBH, they kind of didn't tell me anything I didn't really already know. They explained about priority debts etc etc and how important it was to make sure mortgage etc is up together- which thank goodness it is.

What was really useful was that it opened OH eyes that he needs to sort his company out asap as it is leaving us in limbo; as he is technically employed we can't claim anything more than what we are already. CAB can't really help us any further until he has decided if he is going to close (liquidise?) his company, or try to hold it together. They gave him a number for a specialist business helpline and he has found them really helpful this morning, especially regarding the legal stuff and what we may be personally liable for if the company does fold. Only after that can the CAB then help us get a personal plan together.

So in a way we're back at square one, however I think OH is finally coming up with a plan of what he is going to.

I think for the next 3 months we will have to just send token payments to our creditors until we know more where we are at and what we will have coming in. I've applied for a bank account at Barclays, as I don't think they are related in any way to Natwest or Santander? Stupid me though, I applied for a surestart maternity grant last week just before that and put my natwest account number on it for the payment. So another reason to try to keep them in the dark until I can get that money & get it out of my account pronto!

Anyhow, enough about me, I've kind of run the gauntlet a bit with emotions this morning, been swinging about like a pendulum! Back to calm for the momment. Just a huge thank you to true and everyone else who has listened over the last 24 hrs. We may still be going it alone with our dmp so will be keeping up with all your progress and I hope it all works out for everyone!

Sounds like you're on the right path Dizzy!

It is a complete rollercoaster, which you just have to ride out and see where you end up!...And remember we're all here for the journey :)

I don't think Barclays is linked to NatWest or Santander but you can double-check on Wikipedia, that's what I did.

Good luck & keep us posted! x

    Good girl :p

Barclays is fine - definitely not connected with either Nat West or Santander. Can you contact the Sure Start bods and ask them to change your account details?

The legal side of winding up a business can be a tad complicated and depends on lots of different factors (whether its a limited company or partnership or sole trader etc, different rules apply for each) - PDD works with businesses so she may be able to answer any questions you have on that issue.

Token payments for the next few months will be fine I'm sure. I think Teddy has a really good token payment letter that I'm sure she'll share if you get stuck.

Well done for braving the pendulum - keep it up :j

Oh No!!!! Is the cost all covered???

Its got a really good warranty, and its a dealer we've used for years so I'm sure they won't charge us - the car is only just over a year old though which has got me worried, just in case the wipers are the first things to go
