Got a similar letter from Cap 1 for my CC, so I phoned and asked and a lovely Indian gentleman apologised for their lack of clarity and confirmed that they would cancel interest and charges and they have, beautifully!!!
Thanks so much, I remembered you saying they had cancelled your interest and charges and when I saw your green light I was hoping you'd reply and say you got the same letter!!!:)Paddle no. 12

Hi all, so today I got a letter from crap1 saying they have accepted the repayment plan but the terms and conditions/dates and amounts would be sent to CCCS so I'm left not knowing if they have frozen interest and charges. They did manage to send me a default notice. Anyone else got this from crap 1? If so, what was the outcome re interest and charges?
On an cautiously optimistic note, barclaycard have not phoned since Thursday so maybe I was right that there was a delay between my account being marked no calls and it showing at the call centre....
Hi i got exactly same from cap1 with default notice but havent heard anything else from CCCS. Havent heard anything else from bcard they havent rang me a work anymore thank heavens. Got my bcard statement yesterday tho demanding payment and a late default charge of £12 my token payment was on it so they have my dmp notification and I have rang them to explain. Still havent heard anything from Halifax. Has anyone had experience of them?0 -
My question is to you guys though which I feel real stupid, but I just dont understand, you all mention about opening a new bank account, firstly what happens if the bank wont let you as you have such bad credit anyway?
Secondly, if they do and you transfer ALL (?) direct debits, aren't they just going to debit your account and your be in the same position as you were, as you just wont have the funds in there?
I'm pretty sure that there are basic bank accounts that you can open no matter what your credit rating. You won't get an overdraft, and may be stuck with an Electron card or similar, and no cheques, but it will manage for the basics of getting your salary in and bills paid out.
You only transfer your bills DDs - rent, utilities, council tax etc. Not your credit card payments! The thing with a DMP is that you budget for all your income, and then all necessary expenditure such as bills, food, clothes etc. Then what's left goes to your creditors. So this can all be dealt with from a new basic account without ever needing more credit or an overdraft, as long as you stick to your budgets.0 -

My new Co-op account came with a debit card that has Visa on and I've had no trouble buying things online (even from a US site) with it, that I used to buy with my old cut up Barclaycard. Only difference it is now my money being spent not credit. I believe when they switched to Visa some companies did not switch quick enough and problems arose, but most are sorted now.Paddle No 21 :wave:0 -
Morning all!!
Sooo glad to see you back Nat, but I'm glad you're absence included and kid-free night out :j!!
That letter is awesome Teddy, Niddy (neverindoubt) has a fabulous way of wording things that sound so, well, grrrr!! Also, good that your friends won't be questioning things and will be supportive, even if they don't know the whole story!
Hi to Chocolates and Michaela! Welcome, ask any questions and join in with the trolley bashing, Shop A worshipping and CrapOne hating that happens on a daily basis over here!!
Mama, how did things go with the boiler???
PDD, congrats on your boys finally winning! England seem to have taken over the "we're going to play rubbish rugby" flag :rotfl:
I think most basic bank accounts are coming with Visa Debit cards these days, they seem to have been phasing out Solo cards. Also, you won't be credit checked for a basic account and they are dead easy to open - HTH for your sibling Michaela!
Well I braved ShopA yesterday (with a rather muddy and miserable DB) and my god its the most disorganised place I've ever been!! I asked the spotty oik trolley pusher where the face creams are and he literally grunted at me and pointed to the far side of the shop !! So, I trudge over, dragging said mudball with me only to find they had sold out of the eye cream  so I had a mini-meltdown, completely forgot about looking for Wackos and meatballs, and legged it! So I guess, half successful seeing as I got through the door without a great deal of Olympic Hovering, but a bit of a failure because I came out empty handed!Paddle #8 DFW Nerd #12840
