Hi all just wanted to update you. After giving me the courage last weekend from your lovely replies me and the OH set about opening all our unopened post and made a start getting to grips with the situation. We filled in the debt remedy and PUSHED THE BUTTON. Needed a large drink after but felt great. Then our computer totally crashed was this a sign!!! So it has taken a week to get fixed and i have lost a lot of info but hey just another problem. What i do need is the template letter to send to our creditors offering token payment. Anyone help me please.
I have opened a new bank account with the co-op who were great new cards already arrived. Still waiting on the pack from CCCS. Clld all our DD now need to set up new ones. So this is the start and if it had not been for this site i know i would have kept burrying my head in the sand. So a big thank you. :j

    Hiya Bailey!!

Thanks for coming back to let us know how you're doing, so glad its all good for you! Long may it continue :)

:eek:Boiler packed up this am, no hot water or heat, we have british gas cover but terrified it won't cover the problem, we seem to have an appointment for today so just have to wait and see. No emergency fund....carp carp carp...not that we'd have been any better a few months ago as there was no space left on the cc....makes you realise you've got to build a stash of cash under the matress:eek:

Oh no mama!! Thats awful!! The British Gas cover is really comprehensive though hun, so hopefully it will be covered, will keep my fingers crossed for you xxx

Have you looked to see if you're eligible for the Warm Front scheme? I think if you get Child Tax Credit you are. I got a new boiler, draft proofing and loft insulation worth about £4k from them so if the boiler is deaded they might be able to help you?

Hopefully your BG cover will sort this out, this emergency fund one is a difficult one. I am trying to use the interim month(s) of token payments before starting DMP to build up £500ish as an emergency fund and aim to put £100ish a month away. However, I think £500 is the minimum you need and if I had £1000 to make an F and F I would try and wait until I had £1500 spare, hence leaving the £500.
It's psychological for a lot of us as well, as we are used to just putting any unexpected bill onto credit and forgetting about it. So it will certainly take me a while to get used to not doing this and towards the end of the month am finding myself checking my bank account balance twice daily!!

Hiya everyone can i please join this thread??
Im just about to start a DMP with the CCCS and am about to post my token payments and DMP notification letter later on today to my creditors!! Its taken me a long while to do this but after reading the posts on here for the past couple of months its given me the confidence to do something about it. Im a bit stressed out at the moment but know things can only get better. Im just trying to get all my statements and payslips etc together for CCCs so i can post that aswell today.
Time to stop wasting money and start saving some!! :T
  • Well, I have read so many posts on this thread, but not all. I am on behalf of my sibling going to help sort out their debt. I know that the CCCS wont talk to me being a third party so my sibling will have to make that call to go through exactly what debts they have etc etc, but I will be doing everything after that, ie sending out the relevant letters to all the creditors and all else that follows.

My question is to you guys though which I feel real stupid, but I just dont understand, you all mention about opening a new bank account, firstly what happens if the bank wont let you as you have such bad credit anyway?

Secondly, if they do and you transfer ALL (?) direct debits, aren't they just going to debit your account and your be in the same position as you were, as you just wont have the funds in there?

Thirdly, does my sibling open a new account, before speaking to the CCCS or just wait until what they say?

I am so please my sibling has decided to do this as this has been going on for many years now, and the debit is £50k + and I really want to be able to help as much as I can.

I went onto the CCCS website and read all their pages, just one thing is puzzling me, after they have been given my siblings income, outgoings, debts etc etc, is it CCCS that work out what you should pay to your creditors per month and do you pay that or do you pay CCCS and then they pay the creditors?

Any information would be really appreciated THANK YOU.

  • Afternoon Peeps

been shopping (food, don't panic, I haven't regressed) and sleeping to make up for all the driving.

Mama Hope BG cover the boiler, they are usually very good, they once had to come back 9 times to fix our old one, but they did and eventually fixed it, for free, well nearly)

I've got my stash in the Principality account with the wee pots, safe, gets interest and you can move it around the pots, seemples!!

Welcome Chocolates, you will start to feel better soon, promise now that the deed is done.
Michaela, welcome its a very good thing you are doing for your sibling, you need a new bank account only if you have debt with your existing bank, cos if you stop paying they may take it out of your savings/current account without telling you. Filling in the debt remedy on the CCCS is a good first step and you don't need to speak to anyone to do that.

Gibbs am I getting this right, you are having your sister for lunch, boiled or fried? Enjoy.

Hi all, so today I got a letter from crap1 saying they have accepted the repayment plan but the terms and conditions/dates and amounts would be sent to CCCS so I'm left not knowing if they have frozen interest and charges. They did manage to send me a default notice. Anyone else got this from crap 1? If so, what was the outcome re interest and charges?

On an cautiously optimistic note, barclaycard have not phoned since Thursday so maybe I was right that there was a delay between my account being marked no calls and it showing at the call centre....

  • Hi LJ

Got a similar letter from Cap 1 for my CC, so I phoned and asked and a lovely Indian gentleman apologised for their lack of clarity and confirmed that they would cancel interest and charges and they have, beautifully!!!
