  • Hi everyone. I got a letter from Cap1 today accepting my DMP. They are also defaulting me straight away, so hopefully all my creditors will do this, and I can start to repair my credit rating whilst on my DMP.

I haven't made it up to the post office yet, We have had quite a lot of snow overnight and, as usual, the gritters didn't put in an appearance until after lunch,so I didn't want to chance the roads. I will maybe go up after I pick DD up from school.

I am amazed at how easy MBNA and Cap1 have been. From what I had read on here, I was expecting them to be a nightmare.

  • I hope that they will be as quick replying to you tedsd.

VicB, I am finding this whole "will they won't they" acceptance part awful. I swing from being really positive, to really despondant with a huge amount of anger in between. I just want the whole thing to be up and running so that I can get on with the rest of my life, and know where I am with all my creditors.

Hi there newbeginning, and welcome to the thread

  • Hey everyone and welcome to newbeginnings,

i have had littlewoods group/shop direct, empire catalogue, capital one (got the same letter as you yesterday iwillgetoutofdebt re the default), and egg all seeming quite happy when i called them yesterday re acceptance.

Only people not so sure about are barclaycard and Principles visa (mbna i believe) but who knows, i think Mercer are dealing with my barclaycard as they answered the number i called yesterday but then passed me to barclaycard im not really sure.

If you are worried about acceptance maybe give them a call thats all i did, i dont know anything re interest etc apart from egg but at least they all know and majority said they are accepting my payments.

Ted - Dont worry im sure as i was told yesterday a lot of the letters are just computer generated. Have you told barclays you are currently seeking advice from CCCS? Might get them off your back for a little while until your set up?

Its Friday :T everyone should be happy today

Thanks for the help & support everyone! If I could buy you all a drink I would! lol!

I'm with MBNA & Capital One as well, so good to hear they're helpful. In fact a few months ago when I got a bit stuck MBNA (Virgin Money) were really helpful so fingers crossed they are again.

Sainsburys Bank were also understanding so hopefully they'll continue to do so.

I may just bite the bullet and call them all...I can't bear waiting for the letters! At least then I'll know if they're accepting or not (and then I'll cry!).

Just a couple of questions have sprung to mind...

    1. Is it better that they default you straight away? Does this means they don't add any charges and freeze interest? It confuses me a little.

    2. How long from sending your details (statements etc.) to the CCCS does it take for them to contact your creditors?

....you can tell I'm impatient can't you! ;)

    Happy Friday! :j

  • VicB, the reason I am glad that I am being defaulted at the start is because defaults stay on your credit file for 6 years. So better to get it over and done with now than near the end of my DMP. I don't know if it makes any difference to interest and charges, but it formally ends your agreement with them (so they can pass it on to a DCA if they want).

    arghhhhhhhhh

    I HATE COMPUTERS

Ok I had wrote you all replies but the darn computer just deleted it

VicB default letters dont mean int and charges have stopped. CCCS ask that you let them know if a creditor keeps oncharging int or if the balance of your debts changes in anyway.

tedsd hang on in there. Keep paying the token payments, ring and explain whats going on but most of all dont let it get to you. They cant make you apy anymore than you can afford. All the calls and letters are just bully tactics. Keep CCCS informed if they are getting at you too much. Is the letter on this thread any good to you? Oh and now that my brain is totally frazzelled what is BR

Nearly forgot a big welcome to newbeginning. Any questions and I'll try and help... oh and Im not normally so angry :rotfl:

  • Hi Guys
Glad to see more joiners and lots of acceptances. Just one letter to-day from Amex and they want me to call them to discuss my financial problems, that might take a while.!!! Must confess to a wobbly in the night, never slept going through figures in my head, must stop it because if we had just kept struggling on the mins we'd have been 231 when it was all paid off......... Just going to have some dinner, to-day has been very busy and am now ready for a glass of wine (cheap wine, honest):o

    :D

I returned the DMP agreement to the CCCS on the 18th and they had contacted the creditors on the 21st Jan, so a pretty quick turn-around. I only called to check they had received my statements and was told they'd already contacted all the creditors! :rotfl: These guys are so friendly and super-efficient, i wish they'd run my whole life for me :D.
