    Morning All!

Dugsy I think Nataz hit it on the head with the pro's and con's. By far the best bit for me is the feeling of being back in control, my stress levels have dropped just since my first appointment. Get on to the CCCS, they are fantastic people and will offer you as much support and reassurance as you need.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY (for yesterday) Nataz!! Hope you had a fab day :D

Back to tiling the bathroom again....it really isn't as easy as it looks :p

    Oh!! Thank Crunchie :D its Friday!! And PAYDAY :j :j :j :D

Eek!! I'm having a bit of a wobble today :eek:

I know I've done the right thing, sent my DMP back to CCCS on Monday along with letters to 7 creditors and now I'm in MAJOR panic that they won't accept.

My main concern is my HSBC loan (biggest debt) who I had my current account with...anyone had experience with them? And also Nationwide (overdraft), who have been less than helpful in the past.

I just want this whole acceptance process over and done with as quickly as possible and I'm freaking out!!:eek:

TedSD - thanks for the link i found a thread of a diary someone made it was very useful info thanks.

Nataz - thanks for the info its just what i wanted to know:A. I'm still making my mind up whether to go down this route. the wife wont agree to it at the moment as if we move in with the in-laws for a while we can afford the repayments. we could also then move into the home we own (but currently rent out) in 4 months when the contract is up. hopefully by then my business will have picked up and i can afford to run a home again. but who knows the future?! if business picks up i'll be ok (just) if it doesn't then i'm up the creek. problem is if business really picks up in the next year or 2 and everything turns out ok i'd like to move houses - an impossibility i'm guessing if i can't get credit for 10+ years. Still thinking about it but whilst trying to stay cool !. if i do decide to do it i'll go down the cccs route. thanks again for the info.:D

True27 - thanks for the support i'll let you know what we intend to do.

    Hi VicB,

I can't help much as i'm only just starting out on this route and you are way in front of me. the only reassurance i can give is that while i've been reading a few threads it seems that HSBS**t seem to be bad with nasty phonecalls - ringing up at silly o'clock to hassle over non payments but seem to accept the agreements in the end.

hopefully someone who's had experience with them might shed some light on it for you.

    Good luck with everything
    D.
  • Morning Everyone :-)

im feeling very positive today thanks mostly to everyone on here, I called all of my creditors when i got in from work last night, first time i dared to speak to any of them. 5 of them have accepted my offer, 1 in writing and Egg (my biggest creditor) said as soon as they recieve my first payment through CCCS all the interest etc will be frozen!! They were so nice, even having a joke with me! i was in shock i know other people say it but i never thought mine would be this easy!
A few of them asked me if i could make a payment over the phone but were ok when i said no.
    Its such a relief.
The other 2 creditors said they havent had anything through from CCCS notifying them yet but have noted my file and i shouldnt have any charges or calls for 30 days. I had my first evening in months without the phone ringing constant! Lovely!!
I am so pleased to have taken this route now, its such a nice feeling to know i am finally in control of my finances rather than them in control of me! :T :T :T

Kaths101 - i was so scared when i started this (i filled in the online form in December) that i never actually sent anyone anything in regard to token payments, i know i should have, but it was christmas and i kinda thought to myself well if i miss one month perhaps it will be ok in january i know i was fooling myself but luckily being 3 months behind by the time my CCCS payments reach my creditors hasnt seemed to affect whether they accept or not. CCCS told me to just send £1 to each one so you should just do that i think, with a covering letter you can either get one from this site, CCCS or Payplan i believe. I would send cheques from your account before you open your new one or just send them a postal order.

VicB - i was so worried about my credit report for years that it put me off doing this sooner, but i couldnt get credit anyway and after this i really dont want any now! i know i cant be trusted with it and dont ever want to get in such a muddle again ever! And please dont worry about the acceptance part, i was worried but all mine have been fine, ive no experience with HSBC but at the end of the day whats the worst they can do? CCJ and the county court will see your means, and accept the payment. You'll have about 4 weeks to wait now for your pack so do please just try and forget it all i know its hard. xx

Dugsy - I agree with true9 ted and nataz, we are all in the same boat and its nice to be able to share with each other, mine has taken exactly 2 months to set it all up and get the ball rolling, which feels like an age but is worth it. CCCS have been really helpful too, if you chose to use them. They dont pressure you, they are also really happy to answer loads of stupid questions when i called them :rotfl: and i really do feel in control of my money now, for the first time in years!!!!!

True9 - Good luck with the bathroom! lol

Coffee-Break - thanks for that info thats really handy i was worried about my first payment.

:T WELL DONE TO US ALL :T

    Thanks girlypink, you're star :A

It's the phone calls that stress me out the most (haven't had any yet), I think I might just send them all a letter now asking not to call and just to write to me and see how it goes. Some only have my mobile number and that's more easy to ignore / divert.

I'll just roll with the punches for next 6 weeks or so and see what happens...and like they say, they can't have what I haven't got.

This thread has been a life-saver...thank you :):T:)

  • Afternoon guys, hope all is well .

VicB, i'm in the same boat as you, i've still not had any acceptance letters. But i had to phone one of them yesterday (i really didn't want to as they've been one of the worse to deal with!) and explained to them i'm setting up a DMP. To my suprise, it was a breeze :). Previously, they were a complete headache to speak with and i had endless phone calls from them . Hope you have a pleasant surprise with HSBC and Nationwide too :).

Girlypink, i'm a Barclaycard customer and so far had no calls from them . My account has recently been passed to Mercer Debt Collection Agency and i hear they are a major pain to deal with. Oh well, let's see what happens! :)

Dugsy, good luck with whatever it is you decide to do :).

Have a good day everyone, especially if your tiling your bathroom ;):D.

Debt £5000, started DMP with CCCS Feb 2010
  • Hi, Can I join you all???

I'm starting my DMP 1st Feb, through CCCS. I sent DMP notification letters just before Christmas with token payments (£1 each), I owe around 27k to 11 creditors, and not one of them has acknowledged my letter yet!!! But they have all cashed their cheques.

However I have received a statement from RBS Credit Card and notice they haven't charged interest this month and in the bit where it shows next months estimated interest that shows a zero too, so hopefully that's a good sign! But they are my smallest creditor, I only owe them £1000.

Barclaycard are being a complete pain in the neck, ringing at least four times a day, but I'm not answering. :p
Anyone have any experience with Halifax? I owe them around £15k, (loan, CC and overdraft). They've taken fee's which has pushed my overdraft over it's limit and are now charging £5 a day!!!! Cant believe they can get away with charging that much, no wonder so many people end up in this situation. :(

I agree. i've had so many extra charges because the charges they put on sent me over my limit hence another set of charges. its how they make their money and should be outlawed.
