Thats good to hear. I'm with Abbey (Santander) as well. Did you get a good deal I prefer fixed term so I know what is going out and hopefully dont get any nasty surprises.0 -

We are tied in till 2013 with Abbey / Santander mortgage (actually I owe £5500 on an Abbey / Santander Credit Card - will they know this if I ring up to arrange a new mortgage deal - yikes!). I guess we wont be able to move to another mortgage company then if I am on DMP for 15 years :-( But would we be able to renegotiate a new deal with the existing lender?????
Anyway, looks like Natwest have been informed of the DMP as I tried to log onto online banking this morning and I cant access my account, they have taken it offline. This is not very helpful if I want to check my statement in the future to see if the CCCS payments are being made as I dont get paper statements. Also there are 2 more direct debits to c ome out - OH DEAR!!!!!!!!!
Do banks normally do this???? I'm now thinking I should move my money over to my new account asap now incase it gets suspended as well and just leave in it enough funds to cover my last 3 DD's which are due on my priority debts soon.0 -
Hi Everyone,
just popping by to say a quick hello on a busy day. All is quiet here post and phone call wise... and only 2 days to the post free weekend!
Thinking about the mortgages, there is a cultural thing going on too with people using it re their status... in most parts of Europe, renting is the way to go...
Enjoy Aldi all who are going today, Candypop I've haven't tried the jam, so that's chorizo, jam and whackos on my next shop...did you get the trolley the right way round before you had to grab your goodies and fling them back in it?
How much is Trucall??
:rotfl:re fish n chips!
Hee - not on the first few visits I didn't .........in fact needed to have a lie down when I got home. The chocolate is nice too but I'm supposed to be on a diet so cant have any.:( Got some lovely chocolate bunnies to put away for easter but little un found them so they are no more!0 -
Afternoon Peeps
Seemples, don't leave any money where any of the banks you owe money can take it from. I don't think they can offset against priorities Candypop but I could be wrong and even if they can't and they do, you would have the carry on getting it back.
I suppose it depends on how organised they are, I have to say from previous experience, most of them couldn't run a p@@@ up in a brewery, but I suppose they are much smarter when it comes to taking money, doh:eek::eek:
I have decided not to worry about credit ratings cos its trashed already by the 2 immediate defaults we received from Cap 1 and Amex, that us for the next 6 years, and by then I would really like to be debt free, (3 years ahead of schedule:rotfl::rotfl:) so I may have to sell a large child or two?
Missed out on the Aldi trip as didn't have time, would only have spent money anyway.:)More than Two Years in

PDD - Thanks for the advice on phone calls. I don't expect I will be harrassed too much by phone calls, I have 6 creditors and have always managed to make the min payments, even if it was late. I will be paying 259.00 per month to a debt of 22000.00 and am hopeful that my dmp will be set up fairly quickly BUT I am still going to install the truecall, I have irritable bowel syndrome and I really wouldn't be able to cope with a lot of stressful phone calls, the post coming is bad enough!!
The only exception is cap1, I was using credit card cheques from another card to pay my creditors in the months coming up to Christmas and that creditor decided, without notice, to block my cheques even though I had enough credit to cover them. This caused me to go over the limit on my cap1 card and no matter how much Ive paid them since, it never clears the arrears. I have added the default fee to the min payment, taken it off the balance, added the next months estimated interest to see how much over it would be and then paid double the difference on top of the min payment and default fee but still, every month I am charged for being over and the interest is nowhere near their estimate on my statement. They haven't phoned me yet about this.
Anyway, I really looking forward to getting started on the dmp and hopefully see my debt decrease, instead of staying the same or even increasing! I am glad I had my LBM and never want credit again!Paddle no. 12

Hi All and Welcome Newbies!!
Very quiet on the DMP front here. No nasty letters or phonecalls. Keeping fingers crossed that it remains this way. Nice to see all payments sent out to the creditors on the CCCS website and next payment to CCCS taken for this month too.
Weird trying to do normal things, like not worry? Is this how it feels to be in control of money? Why could I have not done/be like this in the first place and how did it all get out of control?
Medised
I tried to get for my 4yr old as she had had it previously but was told it is for 6years and up now? ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
So much good advice and support on this thread as always:grouphug:
Mortgage Renewal
When I spoke to the CCCS, this was one of my concerns, my mortgage fixed rate expires next March and I asked if this was going to be a problem. I was advised no, it wont be a problem as long as you are keeping up the payments. The DMP does not affect it. The only thing is that we wont be able to do is increase the mortgage. Which is fine for me as we dont need extra debt!
Hope this helps. Watch this space for March 2011.Live for Today, Nobody is guaranteed Tomorrow:happylove0
