Forgot to ask have you had all of your pregnancy books off the midwife you should get a coupon so you can get a free starter box of huggies newborn size one from asda in one of the books not sure if its the bounty one or the emma's diary. As others have said dont buy to many size 1 as thay may not be in them for long you can always buy more later and store the bigger sizes you have:-):jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0

We used size 1 for a couple of weeks and got through about 5 packs I think, and my bubs was 8lb 12oz when he was born. This pack is quite good, especially if you have any money off vouchers too (which you will get in Bounty/Emma's Diary type packs) http://www.boots.com/en/Huggies-Newborn-Changetime-box_861757/.
We then used size 2 for another month then moved onto size 3. No idea how long they will last, but he's currently 13lb 10oz and they are still quite big on him (the normal ones, not the newborn ones).
We've used Pampers, Huggies and Sainsburys and been happy with all of them. I'm a brand tart and have no loyalty to any particular one!:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator

hiya, i hope alls going well with your pregnancy. Cant really help much as my little girl was 3 month prem and 2lb 5oz dropping to 2lb within the first week so we was on, tiny tiny nappies, hopefully your further on than that. I bought loads of nappies when tesco had their coupons around and shes still not in them yet, she was 2 in august and we are just in a 4+ in pampers now lol, as your bubba gets older they will have less growth spurts so will linger in sizes longer. i know lidle had an offer on last week 2 packs of pampers for £10 rather than £8 each not sure if its still on but deff worth a look, xxxxxxxxxneed to pay my dad back challenge[STRIKE]£3000: £2950: £2750: £2640:£2560:£1560[/STRIKE]:D £0.00:D

This made me laugh - not at you, but with you cos the vast majority of 'us' were probably just like you - you only get to know these things by asking and learning and you'll get to know all these things too once you get used to being a mum!I'm so sexy it's a wonder my underpants don't explode.0 -
hi hun
unless you know you're having a big baby you will need smaller ones than those! They start from 9lbs, I think they will be a bit big for the first few weeks.
I swear by Pampers - I used a number of Newborn Size 1's but much prefer the Pampers.
I used about 6 packs of Newborn Size 1's (27 in a pack), then 2 large boxes of Newborn size 2's (about 96 per pack) and we are now on the Baby Dry Pampers Size 3's and have been since around 8 weeks.
I got the MEGA box of Pampers in ASDA (144 in each box) - 2 for £18. Check the ASDA baby event out, I have enough nappies for another 6 weeks and haven't bought any for around 4 weeks!
I'm pleased you posted this cos this is about what I have got in for babybean

Strangely, I couldn't use Pampers on my DS until she was about 7 months old.
I tried them when she was born and they made her bum red raw. I'd always have to peel away the grid-like top sheet of the nappy (iykwim?) from her bum.
So I used Huggies which were brilliant and so much softer on her botty.
Same thing happened with the wipes. Pampers Sensitive reacted badly with her skin, but the Huggies pure were brilliant.
And Huggies usually have more offers and BOGOFs on than Pampers, which is more cost effective, especially in the first few months when you're changing nappies like once every 2 hours.
BUT - Pampers do work for a lot of Mummys. Just not for me.

Apparently my son is a giant as he is in size 4+/5 pampers at just shy of 15 months:eek:
The huggies didn't fit him very well at all, and the "eco" ones we tried all leaked like a sieve.
I suspect the kiddy winks shape will dictate which ones work best for you - i think we used about 2 packs of newborn nappies and that was it.0 -
i would buy a pack or 2 of size 1 newborn and the same of newborn size 2.
id you dont need size 1, shops will take them back and change them for you.
we used bout 4 packs of newborn size 1
bout 3 packs of size 2
1 box of size 3 newborn
then we went to normal size 3. have used 3 MEGA boxes and am just about to use a jumbo box. will be getting another 2 MEGA boxes in the ASDA event though as we will use them.
the 'normal' size 3 work out better price per nappy than the newborn size 3. although the newborn nappies are meant to be better for absorbing new baby poo!
we used huggies as well, but found the pampers a better fit and easier to fit.'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0
