How many nappies?

I'm trying to get things together for when our baby arrives, and bought some pampers nappies when they were on offer in boots (I know you're all going to say don't buy a particular brand yet til you know what you like, but tis done!).
Anyway, I've now started wondering if I've bought too many. How long do babies stay in a certain size? Sorry for the silly questions, I think I have a lot still to learn.
I've bought two of these - that can't be too many can it?

My bubs is 5 months old now and is still wearing his size 3 nappies although i have noticed the newborn size3 and the normal pampers size three carry 2 different weights the newborn version i think goes up to 15lb were as the normal version goes up to 20lb i dont know why as from what i can see they are exactly the same size when compared. You should be ok with the 2 jumbo packs but i wouldnt buy any more of that size until you know how fast your baby will grow. He/she could be in them for a few months or just a few weeks :-):jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0

hi hun
unless you know you're having a big baby you will need smaller ones than those! They start from 9lbs, I think they will be a bit big for the first few weeks.
I swear by Pampers - I used a number of Newborn Size 1's but much prefer the Pampers.
I used about 6 packs of Newborn Size 1's (27 in a pack), then 2 large boxes of Newborn size 2's (about 96 per pack) and we are now on the Baby Dry Pampers Size 3's and have been since around 8 weeks.
I got the MEGA box of Pampers in ASDA (144 in each box) - 2 for £18. Check the ASDA baby event out, I have enough nappies for another 6 weeks and haven't bought any for around 4 weeks!A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
Where does the time go? :think:0 -
Thank you! I wasn't going to buy anymore, but then started worrying about how fast they grow and perhaps I'd bought too many already. It would help if I had any idea of how much they weigh roughly at different ages wouldn't it?!
Can you tell this is my first baby!! :rotfl:

My lil boy was in newborn nappies until about 12weeks old. then he quickly went through to a size 4 by time he was 12m.and now at 21months that is the size is still is . but i often find size 4 is always sold out in the brand so i'll either get 4+ or 3 .0

OP - Just remember that the normal Pampers ones are more absorbant - they last 12hours BUT the Newborn ones are designed to catch newborn baby poo. Oh the joys! :rotfl:A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

Hiya
Well I find pampers the best anyway so good choice
In answer to your question no, that will not be too many. If you have bought size 3 these will last for ages as have a weight range of 9 to 15 lbs on them. You may find you should maybe buy 1 small packet of the size 1 or 2 just encase your baby is under 9 lbs though! I think you'll find the first few days/weeks they are peeinng and pooping for britain and you will use anywhere between 6 and 14 a day!
Congratulations on your pregnancy and good luck

Thanks Glamazon, I have no idea what size baby was born and hadn't even realised I;d bought 9lb+ nappies until I just double checked the link.
I can't even blame being pregnant, I was like this before! Need to buy some size ones as well then, but glad I haven't bought too many at least.

Thanks for all your responses! I'm hoping when I'm a mum I just know all these things like you all do!

Hiya,
How organised are you?!! Very impressive! Completely agree with the others - get yourself some small sizes as well. We had to hunt everywhere in a mad panic when I gave birth to a tiddler!!
Also, swear by Pampers - did you know, by the way that Sainsburys currently have an offer on Pampers - a third off. Get stocking up!!
Best of luck for motherhood by the way!0 -

I'm sort of organised and disorganised at the same time - buy nappies on offer, but don't realise what size I'm buying! :rotfl:
Thanks for the tip about Sainsburys will get some smaller ones too. To be honest we're expecting a big drop in income when I go on maternity leave, so thinking if we can get bits now all well and good. Oh and I like internet shopping, even if it's just for nappies
