well ive just had a woman on the phone from barclay card saying "we know you asked us not to call you at home but we feel that we really would like to tell yo about this promotion and can i say these calls are all recorded" i responded with " well if i've told you not to call why are you calling ...what can be soooo fantastic that you feel you have to go against my wishes and call me" reply was " oh we just want you to know about this promotion" to which i replied " well let me assure you that when i say dont contact me i mean dont contact me is your company so ignorant that it ignores the requests of it's customers and given that you have chosen to ignore the request of this customer and told me about it do you think i would be likely to take your promotion or complain" with an added " i know it's your job but you really should be going for job satisfaction unless you like to rudely interupt people with your unwelcome phone calls" and finished off before she could speak "have a nice day" as you can probably guess poor woman was american ...my life has became so boring that this is a highlite lol

Hi - just come across your diary - makes great reading. Was most impressed by your handling of the barclaycard bird! Well done! I'll keep an eye on your diary from now on!

cant decide if this is a positive step or not ...managed to go a whole month without using the visa ...now that is positive ...but i did use the overdraft (not positive) however i clear my visa every month now (never used to, alot of our debt was visa related) so i dont pay any interest any more ...but if i use my over draft i do ok i wont pay much a couple of pounds at most ...but if i had stuck to using the visa wouldnt have paid a penny so did i do the right thing ...visa's have always been a problem for me so i had to break the cycle ...and i am now back in the black with the over draft ...oh the dilema

    Hello gorgeous.

I would say it depends on how badly you went over your limit and why. Were there any big purchases for example?

As a long term aim, why don't you try to build up a bit of a "float" in your account? But in the meanwhile - combine the two strategies. Use your bank account until it runs low, then use the card. Meanwhile try to build up your account.

thanks for the comments on the barclay card fiasco i have to say it did feel empowering lol...

ztd this is what i really need to do and to be honest it wasnt for any big overspends ..instead of using the visa for diesel like i normally do i used money so when i lifted £50 to put diesel in and it came to £45 ish i spent the other £5 on junk as you do (that's the reason i used the visa...to stop this kind've spending) well as i do any rate...i also find (and i wonder if it's just me) because i'm not used to having any money the minute i see some extra sitting in the bank i have this burning hole in the pocket feeling and just land up buying crap so now i only put in what i think i'm gonna need then try and transfer the rest to another account ...not that it stays there for long though ...hows you doing handsome?

Dare I say the words? Spending diary... Also 'fessing on Moozie's thread - keep you on the straight and narrow.

Maybe go back to using the Visa for petrol - stop you buying crap. But Look to get a cashback one if you can.

ok i think i have shocked myself a bit with this one ..i have decided to go and look for another job ...there if i say it quick it wont hurt as much (kinda like pulling a plaster) i'm starting to feel so undervalued by my current employer and i know i am capable of more so the hunt has began ..the mbing is coming on nicely too did a rough (very rough mind you ) calculation of how much i have made and was very impressed with the result if i remember i will reveal all when i have got the right count ( i think i currently have it too high but we'll see) hope your all doing good..oh forgot to say also (the exciting life i lead) i got tickets to see fountains of wayne a band hubby loves not very dfw but vitally important to the sanity we all need a night out now and then and we love our music...visa has been touched but were cutting back for the next two weeks to pay for it yeah
