go for it - it is a useful skill to have, and can lead to a career change, or be combined with that other course you wanted to do.

i was asking at the college and i have spoken to a few people that do counselling in scotland for some reason they want the cosca certificate here ...the hnc is of no use in your career but it does give a much better insight into the subject.... i spose it's kindve like the hnc i already have not worth the paper it's written on (the employers all want my svq3 because the scottish executive says that is the minimum required in my line of work) but much much more interesting than the svq3

So use it as a stepping stone?

Sorry, didn't mean to confuse you!! I do believe you should go with your heart though, and with something like counselling, if your heart is in it then you will truly do well.

Hi el, hope you don't mind, sometimes personal fulfilment is just as important as professional development.
Is it a course you'd like to do even if not necessarily developmental? is it something you've always thought "ooh i fancy the idea of that!" or is it something that would fulfil an ambition or make you proud? If so i say go for it. sometimes in life we spend to long worrying about purpose rather than just letting life happen. A few years back i did a short OU course in oceanology, absolutely no bloomin use to me whatsoever but was great to do. I've always said if i had my time again i'd do marine biology, i felt fulfilled by it and that was the best feeling ever. Sorry to ramble. xx

And see what bits you can skip on the cosca because you have this...

ok i have decided ...now if i go next year the course get's paid for me cause i will be doing it full time (2 days a week) and will only take a year to complete...rather than 2 afternoons a week for two years costing me £500 a year..... so i am not doing it this year but next year when i am debt free and maybe even have some savings what do you think?

Sounds like a plan. So long as you make sure you do...
