Always cancel before the due date and then post them back - some places give you extra time after the free period to get them back but not Lovefilm.

And with emailing them, I used their online form and got an auto-response and then a human response in 24 hours...

And telephone number is 0870 240 1637 - might be worth a look at http://www.saynoto0870.com/

EDIT: No alternative number I afraid...

Thanks for this, I did indeed contact MovieTrack365 through their online contact form and now I have been told that I wont be charged at all, they aren't as quick as Lovefilm anyway so I didn't think I would end up in the same situation as before. When cancelling with Lovefilm just be sure to send the films back and then cancel on the same day or they will send u more!

The guaranteed way to stop this happening with any of the rental companies is to first remove all the titles still remaining in your "Want to Rent" listing, and then send your final discs back to them. They can't send you any more discs (and trap you into another month's rental) if you've no titles left in your listing. :)

I found LoveFiLM poor. One disk went missing, there is a slow turnaround, and email customer service takes more than a day to get a response. Would never pay for it. Tesco on the other hand were very good - always got top choices, and would receive the next set of dvds by return of post.

Give the real company the praise - Screenselect!! (Tesco don't do it themselves!)

  • I have used screen select and fivedvd(which is run by lovefilm)

Turn around time was much better on screenselect and they sent me first choices.
Fivedvd were very slow and never sent my first two choices despite sending me 6 dvds in my free trial.

One tip on cancelling is to freeze your account and then they don't seem to take the payment before the dvds are returned. Then cancel a week later.

Just off to try another company now.

I have to agree. Tesco (or whoever runs it) is very reliable and quick, also very large selection of films. Global e-rental on the other hand are very poor. Discs are in very bad condition, 3 games we rented did not play properly and also one film so far was too damaged to play properly.
    Errrr...come back later ;)
