Right, this weekend I need to:

    *make some soup for lunches
    *exercise twice
*make a pudding for a work lunch on Monday (was going to make legendary chocolate pavlova, but might just make some meringues with fresh fruit and cream for those who want it - virtuous or what?!)
*try not to slip into 'weekend eating' mode

I also need to get to grips with my finances - I'm planning a major re-file and shredding session - so I can update my sig at the end of the month. If I hadn't gone on holiday, I reckon I'd have got sub £15k (which would take me past the halfway mark!) but I'm not sure how it will look. Scary.

At least I've spent hardly anything since we got back - we did an epic food shop (£80) and filled up our cars with petrol (£65) and I'm surviving on £30 that I'd lent a girl at work before Christmas, but feeling much too guilty to buy anything non-essential :)

I did print about 80 photos off from Photobox at a cost of £5.09, but I got 40 free prints and £6 cashback so I'm quids in. Hurrah.

Thats the cooked weight, its preprepared stuff (not insanely lazy, it was reduced to 50p!) so I put the exact details from the back of the pack into FF. 500 cals has to be about 400g, how on earth can you eat that much thats a bucketful!

Well, that's OK then *stern face*. Hmm, maybe the cals included the veggies that were in it as well? Anyway it was a heck of a lot more than the 200 or so I thought it was. I did leave some a lot of the time actually, I was thinking "Wow this is fantastic, you can have so much of it!" :o

And me, but now you've got me fancying a meringue!

Take a deep breath and get that paperwork out, you'll feel better once you know the damage, even if it's worse than you think, you'll feel better for knowing - good luck!

Ah sorry, but at least meringues are fairly diet-friendly!

I'm sort of looking forward to finding out the damage - I'll only be very disturbed if it's gone up since my last sig!

Right, I'm going to wrap up things at work and head home in the rain (getting a bit bored of this now...) for a slap up dinner.

Hope everyone has lovely weekends! And try to stay on the wagon... :D

    Morning,

Not a good start for the weekend, just had a choc croissant and cacao:eek:. Well, it's Saturday so I guess I'm allowed. I'm off for aerobics class today, than will need to cook chicken with spinach and vegetables- and no dinner tonight, I'm babysitting:rotfl:. Will weigh in tomorrow, I'm afraid it will be a gain...

Please may I join in too?

Quick intro - despite the name, Im female (my name is actually Ruth; BenW is short for a mountain in Scotland that I happen to be particularly fond of), aged about 50 something and weigh 10st 2lbs. I managed to gain 1 1/2 stone over the last year or so by doing less activity and having a sedentary job that keeps me at the computer all day or else sat in the car, driving to and from appointments all over the country.

So target would be to lose the 23lbs excess and be able to get back into all my clothes. At present my wardrobe is severely limited as I cant fit into anything and I dont want to spend loads buying new stuff just because Im too fat (my own fault).

The intention is to eat a little less (cant join a club as my job times are too erratic) and start to get out more. I used to hike a lot; now I get breathless just walking to the kitchen! Both my parents have heart disease, so I want to avoid that if possible. Theirs is caused by lack of exercise and smoking. I dont smoke, so that leaves the exercise. My mother in particular has circulation problems and she says exercise is the key to not having what she has.

So how does this work? Are we meant to tell what we are eating? Or just sign in for the weigh ins?

    Thanks for reading.

Hi Ruth nice to meet you. Post whenever works for you. A lot of us find it helps to record what we're eating or how we're exercising, but others prefer to just post at the weigh in.

Weighed in today again unofficially, down to 138.6lbs, so thats me down by 3lbs in 7 days. Chuffed with that all things considered. I know its unlikely to be 3lbs every week, but if it was I'd be back at my goal weight in just over 6 weeks! (Thats daunting, takes me less time to loose a stone in a healthy manner than it does to get an MRI on the NHS!)

This is aimed at no one in particular but the only person you are actually accountable to is yourself. Saying 'I'm on a diet' and then having treats every day is not a diet, and you need to have strength to pass up the treats, and when the scales show no change, thats the only reason, apart from the dreaded TOTM and some medications ofc. Losing weight is a very simple process, calories out need to be greater than calories in. While this group is a great support, they can't actually give you the willpower to put down the piece of cake or box of chocolates. A small treat once a week worked into the diet is fine, but on top of normal meals consistently is enough to counteract all other good works you do, despite you feeling deprived and on a diet! I'm a chocoholic, so my 'treat' when I need it is 2 mini eggs, coming in at 29 calories its no diet breaker and can be worked into my allowance easily, but I still get my fix.

I love and respect everyone on here, and I don't think anyone is in the seriously obese NEED to loose weight category, but everyone here would LIKE to loose a bit, so if this has struck a cord with you, stop saying the diet starts tomorrow, there is never a good time for it to start there will always be celebrations coming up or reasons to put it off, so start it now.

You haven't killed the thread. What you say is all true although for example I'm not taking the weight loss seriously till 1st February- I need time for my mind to switch into dieting/healthy eating/no choc mode.

I had porridge for breakfast today, went to the gym to do step class and had tomato soup for lunch. Evening is going to be fried liver, potato and salad with 2 small slices of apple cake:). I had my weigh in today: 59 kilos=129.8 pounds. I try to maintain this for an another week, than need to start shifting the pounds.

Kavics are you a little smaller than average in the height department? Just 129lbs is pretty teeny already!
