  • How can i check how much they have given me if i have no account cards with me as of yet? They didn't inform me how much this "goodwill gesture" is...which tells me it isnt an awful lot. If something doesn't ring true...that is down to the banks, and not myself! Thanks for the constructive responses though guys

Totally right, when Abbey cancel your cards they cancel your telephone and online banking as well and it all needs to be set up again. They once cancelled a card from the wrong account and I had no access to my money for almost a month without going into the branch. Locally I live locally to one otherwise I would have been in trouble.

How was her reputation damaged? She didn't even know anyone in there! :rotfl:
    Gone ... or have I?
  • DMG..you're a friend of mine? who was there at the time? I live in a village and have one bank in my local small town! If i lived in a city...I understand your point...but don't make assumptions about something you know nothing about!
  • another example of someone posting on here and all the brave anonymous people ragging it to bits.
If some bint in a bank told me i was a fraudster in the public area I would be pretty p1ssed about it.
Though to be fair I personally would of sorted it at the bank there and then and asked to have a meeting in a private meeting room.
Though in my job I am used to dealing with stressed erics
everyone is different and copes with stress in different ways.

The advice I give on here is based on my many years in the preservation industry. I choose to remain anonymous, I have no desire to get work from anyone. No one can give 100% accurate advice on a forum if I get it wrong you'll get a sincere apology and that's all:D

Irrelevant - it is libel/slander if it is heard by anyone (apart from the parties themselves).

OP I am confused, why are you asking such a question on here when you have had advice from a solicitor ?

  • Okay Natalie - a couple of points.

First, it is best not to use your real name on forums - this is not because some people will descend into schoolboy humour but for security reasons.

Second having made clear that you were, understandably, more than a little unhappy with the behaviour of the bank, it must deal with the matter under the rules of the Financial Services Authority. These allow it to resolve the matter by the end of the working day following the one on which it becomes aware you are dissatisfied and, if you are satisfied with that outcome, the matter ends there.

If not, it has to investigate and write to you within 8 weeks telling you what it intends to do about it and what to do if you are still not satisfied - which will include an opportunity to go to the Financial Ombudsman Service.

You are not going to get an enormous amount for this (don't book a world cruise).

Because they said it to you, it is not libel but if they have humiliated you in public, you should be entitled to reasonable redress for the distress and inconvenience you have been caused.
