  • Most of what they had to say was nonsense really (did you know that by boiling or steaming or veg we are giving ourselves cancer - the only way to prevent this is to buy one of their pans that cook without water or fat. The electric skillet she used was very nice - for £790 it won't be coming to my place:eek:

!!!!! That made me so mad. How DARE they tell everyone such utter rot - hope nobody believes them  And that their bottoms get scalded by the water and fat-less pan :p

I have had an oopsie week, visitng the parents and driving 5 hours each way which just begged to be filled with chocolate and pre-packed M&S sandwiches, and chocolate and cappuccino and and and... Trying for a few speedy and low syn days to make up for it before the dreaded monday weigh in.

    So today:

heinz BBQ baked beans (anyone know if they have syns?), onions and mushrooms as brekkie. Oh, and mini quorn sausages which I found in sainsburys :T

... I have a packet of melon for lunch. Going out to ride the horse/pretend to burn calories, so just a tad concerned I actually don't have anything else to eat, despite spending £20 at saunsburys yesterday. :o Bought some of those low fat cottage cheese posts that you snap apart, so might take one of those and a spoon, too. Dinner = omlette of some description, or chow mein with the stir fry veg I bought.

    Happy slimming everyone :T
Nothing tastes as good as riding a horse feels
  • Nessie Gin and Tonic is pretty good syn wise, it's only 2.5 syn's - you could even go wild and have a slice of lime in it! :)

Marion I can't believe those are so expensive!! Well done you on getting a freebie though!! :)

crap_with_money.com - thanks for the idea - never tried it before and have tried tonic water before and didn't like it! Too bitter (yet i can quite happily suck on a lemon/lime!) I must be strange!
maybe i could have diet coke instead? (even though i hate coke!)
It annoys me that most pubs etc. don't do diet lemonade! - Has anyone found that?
Are most spirits the same in syns? Obviously baileys is alot more :-(
Why are all the nice things bad for you??? lol
Sorry to be strange/weird/mental/annoying (tick all that apply) - Not having a great day!

Just got back from our local library where there was a talk being given on healthy eating and cooking. Turned out to be a group called Saladmaster doing the demo and trying to flog their very expensive gear. Most of what they had to say was nonsense really (did you know that by boiling or steaming or veg we are giving ourselves cancer - the only way to prevent this is to buy one of their pans that cook without water or fat. The electric skillet she used was very nice - for £790 it won't be coming to my place:eek:
They also made a nice mixed salad with the Saladmaster machine - a mere snip at £299!!!!!! But not for me folks - there was a quiz at the end and I answered the most correct questions and won a machine:j Thought it might be a trick but she handed it over without me having to promise my first born grandchild or anything else:T
Guess who is going to be eating a lot of chopped salad and veg for the next few weeks? Honestly who would pay that amount of money for basically a coleslaw maker?:rotfl::rotfl:

    Marion:)
Roll Up, Roll Up - it's Marions SW salad factory!!

Well done, tho - you obviously know your stuff!!
  • Yeah all spirits are the same I think - you could add some lime juice to the tonic water? Takes the taste away! :P I think it says in the (SW) bible that lime juice is free? Although, maybe that just means the juice of a fresh lime rather than cordial?

    xx
  • Just checked - diluted Lime cordial is 3 syns - def not worth it! :P

Diet juice and spirit it is!!

    xx

    Hi Nessie,

I think clear spirits are lowest in syns, so gin, vodka, bacardi etc are best and if you do go for them remember to have slimline mixer. Ordinary tonic might taste bitter but it still has loads more syns than the slim one! If you really hate all of these, maybe have a glass of wine as a spritzer and make it last. And low alcohol lager is a bit better syn wise than the real stuff. Sorry, maybe someone can be more specific about syns, I'm just doing what goes round in my head as I stand at that bar!

Oh it gets even better - they give you a list of 7 thing NOT to do after a meal. One of the strangest ones is Don't loosen your belt - loosening your belt after a meal will easily cause the intestines to be twisted and blocked:eek::rotfl::rotfl::(!
I just made a salad of red and white cabbage, courgette and an apple. I used about 1/8 of each of the cabbages, and 2 inches of courgette and a small apple - it made the biggest bowl of salad I have ever seen! A tblsp of vinegrette dressing stirred through and I must admit it does taste very nice! However the same thing could have been done with a food processor or any good food chopper really. However I will try and use it - I did fine the raw vegetables very filling:)
