I am confused by the syn values for dried foods such as instant potato. In the food directory it says asda minute mash cheese, made up as directed, dried 100g made up 1 syn on green. Does that mean I have to make it up and then weigh out 100g for 1 syn?
    Thanks :)

    :hello: Hi and welcome.

No it says 'dried' 100g made up, so you'd weigh out 100g of the dried stuff then make it up.

Just got back from weigh in.... 4.5lb off this week! So pleased, and I'm into the next stone now...I never want to see that other number on the scale again if I can help it! I had a gain of 1.5lb last week so I think that's got something to do with it, but have also been writing everything down religiously which has really helped get me back on track, I'll be doing the same this week.

Just looking for some reassurance (hopefully :o!). I just started SW 2 weeks ago and at the end of my first week (last week), I had lost 5lb - soooo happy. Went for my weigh-in last night and have gained 1.5lb - the consultant reassures me that as it is my star week, this is nothing to worry about but I have turned this over in my head and whilst I could understand that I might not have lost as much as last week, should I not have lost something, rather than gained ????

I am doing the Extra Easy and really thought I had been good last week - can your star week really make that much difference ?

    Thanks
    M.

The same thing happened to me last time around but mine was down to not eating as much the 2nd week.

well done all those who lost and hugs to those who didnt xxx

i stuck to diet all week and put on 1lb :(

so disappointed after working so hard

Hi, I can understand your disappointment at gaining if you feel you've been good all week. Could it be your star week? If it is (or it's due) you can hold up to 4lbs of extra fluid. If it's not that then, in all honesty I think you're going wrong somewhere.

If you would like to post up a day's menu, we'll have a look and see if we can spot something amiss:)

has anyone had problems with being dizzy after starting slimming world?

i haven't had meat for the last 4 day (not on purpose but just had loads of quorn and no real meat in the house so am wondering if this is the reason.

but i have no balance and get up spinning and am wondering if its to do with doing slimming?

    thanks

It won't be due to following food optimising - it's just healthy eating after all, but there does seem to be a virus going round which is causing strange symptoms. My DD is suffering with swollen glands from it and my Mum is very dizzy, so maybe a visit to the Doc is warranted.

Hope you're feeling better soon :)

    I HAVE to stick to it this week;
    B; bacon & egg, banana
L; 5 scan bran (HEb) with sm salmon quark pate, clementine
D; duck in pancakes (I know I know - a weak moment :o) & some SW chips. Can't find syns online for duck so will count it as my whole day's syns & hope for the best!
Will have my HEa Dairylea as a snack before bed.
    D's; diet coke

Was meant to be an EE day but not much green/sfree food in there! :o

    Duck
    Meat only, 28g raw R0.0 G2.0
    28g roasted without fat R0.0 G2.5
    Meat, fat & skin, 28g raw R2.5 G4.5
    28g roasted R4.0 G6.0

this is what my Syn List says, however I think it is pretty old. Should think it would be similar however.

Wow, it's been really nice to have a 'day off' - I think my body has been wondering what the hell's going on with all this exercising!

B: Muller Light vanilla, banana, Alpen Light (HEb)

L: 2x syn free sausages, beans, egg fried in Fry Light, tomato ketchup - 1/2 syn

T: HM spaghetti bolognese made with extra lean mince

    Snacks: Toast - 12 syns

Activity: 30 minutes Wii Fit. OH wants to go for a walk tonight but I don't think he'll be as keen now the sun is going down.

    Total Syns: 12 1/2 syns.

No it says 'dried' 100g made up, so you'd weigh out 100g of the dried stuff then make it up.

Sorry but I don't think this is right - the dried is part of the product description and the syn value is 100g made up meaning 10g made up weight. That's why there is a gap between them.

It's the same with ainsley harriott cous cous

Ainsley Harriott Roasted Vegetable Couscous, excluding oil & butter, dried 100g cooked

    extraeasy.gif ½ Syn on Extra Easy red.gif Original 7 Syns green.gif Green ½ Syn

The product is cous cous, made up excluding oil and butter, dried and the syn value ½ syn per 100g cooked weight

Although I agree that SW could make it less ambiguous.:)

    thank you for the replies.

    yesterday i had

    b - nothing
lunch 3 slices of ww bread, deli egg mayo (1 syn) tomato, lettuce , cucumber and onion.
dinner - egg noodles ( 2 syns) stirfry veg, quorn chicken pieces
    snacks - banana and apple

    today i am having

    breakfast - fruit and yoghut
lunch - 3 slices of ww bread, deli egg mayo (1 syn) tomato, lettuce , cucumber and onion.
dinner - slimming world burger, whole meal roll ( syn - 3) slimming world chips and mayo (syn - 1)

I suspect you'll find it should be 3 syn per 28g of wholemeal bap and not per bap :(
