  • Hi everyone, just joined this thread. Have been a member of SW over the years, managed to lose quite a bit, then put it back on again and more - same old story.

Decided I am really going for it this time and hoping to share in everyone's success

Lost 2lb the first week, which is not brilliant, but I think my body thinks - oh no, not again. Will try to stick with it and not get disheartened
  • I officially suck - I have gained 3 pounds - ah well thats all the birthday parties over for a month and I'm sticking to EE with loads of SS foods as my holidays are two weeks today. *sigh* (It's 7 weeks now until our friends wedding so I'm going to blinking get my act together...)

    Food for the day:
    B: fruit and yogs
L: ham and cheese (HEa) sandwich on Nimble (HEb) with sandwich spread (1 syn) with fruit and yogs
D: I think I'll do some SW chips and fried eggs maybe

I made the lamb biryani last night and it was a hit with the whole family - I stirred in a bunch of frozen peas to mine to add some SS foods.

I can't find the answer but is tinned ravioli free? I thought I heard that on the one class I went to - could be totally wrong!

  • Had my first weigh in last night and I've lost a pound  I don't think I'm eating enough superfree foods - am I supposed to have a third superfree at every meal on green days and EE? The group leader called out my friends loss who also started last week (6lb) and then called mine out and said what a big difference between mine and hers :( i thought that was a little rude!! Will persevere and hope for more off next week.

You should have 1/3 superfree at every meal on EE - to do it on red/green will certainly help though it's less essential generally. Your consultant should not have made that comment - I wouldn't have stood for that - everyone's different so they're losses will be too. are you weighing/mesuring your HEx's?
are you drinking enough too? Water helps everything through the system.

    Hi all,

I just thought I’d pop in and say hi. I haven’t been on here in AGES as have sort of been off the SW wagon, although I have gone back to WW which is a whole different debate in itself.

Anyway, I still lurk on here a lot and look out for ideas for snacks/food, etc as WW works best using the ‘whole foods’ principle that SW is based around.

I have lost around 5lbs recently – although had 2 bad weeks and put back on 4, but with a bit of focus, have lost another 3 this week, so will hopefully be back to where I was (what a waste of a couple of weeks, but nevermind). Still, while I wasn’t eating very sensibly, I have been keeping up the exercise (Body Attack & Pump Tuesdays, Yoga or workout DVD Thursday, then Saturday and Sunday sessions in the gym – and I tell myself I don’t even have to do anything when I go, that I can just go for a sauna and Jacuzzi if that’s what I feel like, but when I get there I think ‘well I’m here now, I may as well do half an hour’ and then I usually end up with a decent session). So while I did regain, people have still been telling me that I look all slim and toned, so it’s not been so bad in the end really!

So anyhoo, I have this lovely recipe for prawn, rice and mango salad which I think would be perfect for SW (only syns would be for the honey on EE if you use Oil as HEB – if that’s allowed on EE? I’m sure someone could confirm that, if not, still not bad in the syns dept):

    175g cooked rice
    1 mango - diced
    375g cooked prawns
    4 spring onions - chopped

Dressing (stir all ingredients together so nicely mixed):
    1tbsp ex virgin o oil
    1 garlic clove - crushed
1 tsp honey – warm it in micro a bit so it stirs in well
    2 tsp lime juice
    Salt & pepper

    1) Cook rice & stir in prawns, leave to cool
    2) Stir in dressing
    3) When cool stir in spring onions and mango
    4) EAT!

    Makes enough for 2-3 portions

Hope you like it, its one of my very fave foods at the moment.

hey dont be angry you have lost 1lb in 52 weeks that will be just over 4stone if you continue to lose 1lb a week

maybe try drinking more make sure you wiegh all your heb and hea's eat a maximum of 10 syns a day - dont save them up as this may cause you to binge
dont worry about losing or being the same as your friend just do the best you can you may find next week youll drop more

also you may want to consider that you have less weight to lose than your friend
write down what your eating eat lot of ss foods theres a 12 ss food soup you can make

Slimming World / Weight Watchers / Going it alone ?

My OH and I are trying lose weight and get fitter.

We are doing fine, OH has lost 1st and 4lb's this year ( had plenty spare - so pretty easy at first.) I have lost 7lb's which is OK.

We have been exercising more and loosely using some old WW recipe books.

I'd like to join a local group but don't know much about Slimming World and how it compares.

Plus, being a MSe'er I'd like to know if there are any deals on joining at the moment!

    Any advice appreciated, thanks.
